To my limited experience, I will agree that I've NEVER had KFC that tasted
as good as the KFC in Taichung, Taiwan on the many occasions I was there
    on business....

Wasn't heavy and greasy - light and crisp, more like Georgia fried chicken.

Highly dependent on the oil used and the change-out frequency.

O/T, anyone have a favorite fryer oil?

Popeyes! At least in Puerto Rico ever since the house of the Colonel change it's name
from Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC it has never been the same; of course that can
be said of many companies in this times of downsizing.

BTW, back in the mighty 80's Popeyes served the onion rings of the gods! They were
    simply magical!
After being out of the market for many years here in PR, Popeyes returned to great
    success -but no onion rings!-

Oh, Doc i'm taking the Delorean back to 1985 to get some Popeyes, want anything?
    Doc? ...Damnit he's gone!

Between the two,i'd go with Popeye's but i love my Bojangle's cajun style spicey fried chicken. If the poll was for chicken sandwiches,it would be Chick-Fil-A hands down but chicken tenders that would be Zaxby's.

Once your town gets a Pollo Tropical, you can kiss good-bye KFC & Popeye's.

Marinated, then grilled. 1/4 chicken & two sides are $4.25. If you don't eat the skin...tough to resist given the flavor, it's a healthy meal. Favorite sides are black beans & rice and fried yucca strips with a garlic mojo dip.

Out west, El Pollo Loco is similar. Heard good things about Martin's (based in P.R.) but haven't tried them.

Dave (LightGuy), I have some news about our obnoxious Cavallino room-mate from a few years ago. Turned out to be a bigger prick than anyone of us could have imagined!

I have Popeyes all the time. Not a fan of their sides in Canada. But we have more choices with chicken sandwiches. Our Churches chicken was good, but they all closed down here. A few Church franchises stayed open here as Indy's under different names. That one here is good. But Popeyes for a chain is best. I haven't tried Chick Fil a yet, only one near me is in Washington State and its a distance away.

    Gonna say?

The closest Popeye's to me is over an hour away.

Back when I lived in Illinois, I had one very close to me, but was always holding out for their "cajun crawfish," and always missed it, so never visited.

So... I'd have to go with KFC, though the quality can vary GREATLY.

Popeyes was absolutely inedible...family agreed. Given the poll % here it must mean ours is plain ol nasty. SoCal.

I have not had KFC in over thirty++ years.

During the daytime, a huge roach appeared on the table while at a KFC location and the antennas were in active search mode.
