I believe the cars of the 80's are still the quickest with highest top speed. 288 Gto-E 0-60 low 3's top speed 240mph?

Its a race car. Not a street car. And im pretty sure an F40 GTE , FXX or the F50 GT would be much faster.

    F50 GT (750hp/907kg)
    F333SP (650hp/889kg)
    FXX (790hp/1155kg)
    F40 GTE (800hp unrestricted)

The Enzo is up there in terms of top speed, 370km/h (230mph), as is the F50 GT, capable of 380km/h (236mph).

Exceed 230mph? Maybe by one or two mph in favourable conditions.

The Enzo has been capable of reaching 230mph out of the box since it was released in late 2002.

An Enzo recorded 370km/h on the Gumball in Morocco in 2004. They did several runs which resulted in top speeds ranging from the high 360's to 373, the latter likely as a result of some wheelspin over a crest.

The Enzo is the fastest of them all.
The others have theorical speeds. For the 288GTO Evoluzione, it's highly unlikely with such a rear wing...

Same thing with the McLaren F1, only the non-winged car reached 371kmH (369 official). The winged LM reached 345 KmH.

Enzo is very impressive but still shy by 10 mph of the 288gto E. Anyone confirm this top speed of 240 or was this hypothetical?

That's interesting, as I remember seeing an in car video of the record setting run of 391 km/hr. I was under the impression that that was the XP1 (?)prototype, but still.

Interesting I was under the impression that the enzos top speed was in the high 21X's or low 220's.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know the true top speed of the carrera GT?

I believe motor trend ran one out to 205-ish at Ford's proving grounds in Arizona, but the straights weren't quite long enough to run each car to it's true maximum. Also remember reading about pre-test journalist rides in which the Carrera GT reached 200 mph on a 1.2 mile runway.

There is a photo on superfreak car forums of Carrera Gt showing 217mph. Not sure how accurate the gauges are but porsche is humble regarding their acceleration and top speed.

The speedo's will be atleast 10km/h off at those speeds.

Pretty sure the McLaren F1 hit a gps verified 386.5 km/h on an official top speed run. However the car had the rev limiter removed.

edit: Sorry A few years later someone hit 391.1 km/h in one.

I thought that 217mph was the quoted top speed for the Enzo. Is this not correct?

    Yes.

During a test in 2004 at Misano they recorded 219mph on the banked curve. It should be good for higher than that down a straight.

Jim Glickenhaus says his P4/5 is good for 233mph. It is a bit lighter and creates more downforce than the stock Enzo, but has the same engine, gearbox and diff.

I take it the speed recordings from the Enzo's onboard computer are taken from the speedo - therefore there would be some inaccuracy at that speed, although I don't know how much - every car is different.
