Hey all, Other than the Enzo, are there heavily modified Ferraris that are faster than all others in 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, etc.? It seems to me that people don't mod Ferraris all that much, partially because they believe that they cannot be improved upon, and also partially because the cars are so fragile and delicate and that doing such Frankensteinian things can never help value, collectibleness, etc. Coming from such forums as for Audis, Porsches, etc., there is a heavy dose of tuning going on, and when I say tuning, I mean more than just cosmetic, but really hard core engine stuff, let's say stroking, boring, turbos, supercharging, etc. Maybe this isn't the right sub-forum, but I am referring to Super Ferraris, am I not? Let's hear about them! Henry
An owner here on Fchat has an F40 putting out over 700 horsepower. There was a thread about it a few months ago.
1000+ HP Turbo Testarossas were popular in the 80s and 90s, led by Norwood Performance. Usually quarter mile times aren't spectacular because one can't get all the power to the ground at launch.....from what I've read, anyway. http://norwoodperformance.com/stage_4.htm
You need to check out some Koenig stuff... can get pretty crazy PS Visit this forum; http://www.autotitre.com/forum/Rarete-only-le-retour-38539p1.htm Quite a lot of other cars, but a fair bit of tuned Ferraris too.
street legal? Here in minnesota you can drive almost anything... So ill say FXX or F40 LM GTE for stockers and that twin turbo TR or F50 for modded
You're right... takes a bit for the turbos to spool up.. I used to work there and I remember the first time I got in a big Hp TR with Bob. He told me to hold this laptop and don't let the screen fold down... I was thinking that he was kidding but we took a rolling start and he punched it... screen went down, right on my fingers. I was looking down at the data streaming on the screen, then I looked up to see the side mirrors were folding in from the aero force on accelleration. I hope that gives everyone an idea of how fast those things are.
I think my Slutmobile is putting out over 600 hp now, maybe more She's quite the rocket now Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would say the Carmack F50 or 288 GTO modificato from Norwood. The F50 was a fast car already when they decided to put turbos on it.
i know its a maserati, but its based on the enzo... 700 bhp mc12 - http://www.dpccars.com/car-movies/03-13-06pageMaseratiMC12.htm
I somewhat disagree.... The salt flat GTO was a race car with a chevy motor.. So you really can't count that. I drove both the Carmack F50 and TR many times. They're two totally different feeling cars... To me the Turbo F50 was (stock config. now) "very fast". Very nimble and very controllable with a gradual boost that brings on the power very fluidly....The Stage 4 TR was "scary fast". Pure, raw power that poured on the boost at a faster rate. Put it to you this way... When we took both cars for a Car and Driver test, they're driver said that the TR was quite possibly the fastest street car he had ever driven. Cheers
Increased displacement to 3.4 litres. Bigger cams. Ported heads. Turbo upgrade. LM brakes and rear wing. 18" Speedlines. Euro seats and seat belts.
Koenig built a Competition Evolution based on a Testarossa with a twin turbo which was 1000bhp and done 236mph
i doubt very much 8 seconds as it would not be able to put the power down, and in my belief there was no record of a tt F50 doing the quater in 8's..
Ofcorse you can get the power to the track and drive 8sek times.Thats not an problem at all. MickeyThompson, Hoosier, ... And you got enough traction but i would think more about the tranny and the driveshafts then on the traction. Because these points are more a problem. Also 1000 hp or even more are common on normal drag races (with street cars no pro dragster). But also the weight, hp over the entire rpm bandwith and shifting ability is important to get a quick time not only the max hp rating. __________________________ Samy
How about the 1970 512S/Ms? They did well over 200mph on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans when they competed with the 917s. Yes, it's a race car, but they are street legal. In fact, I've seen one with tags. I've also seen a Comp Daytona with tags. CW
Just don't get too close to that exhaust! It is LOUD! I think Jay (nocturne1) has a vid clip of it on his site: http://crystalcovecarshow.blogspot.com/ And if he gets some decent rubber on it, I'm guessing Rick will get 9 second quarters and with the taller Euro gears, it should get over 200 vmax.
Sorry about that. I thought he had already uploaded it. He should have it up soon enough. I hope. New baby and all.
