I got caught going 112 mph in a 75 zone.

It was a very long, straight stretch of road on the way from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe. It was a very desolate place in the middle of nowhere and the officer caught me going in the opposite direction, in an unmarked squad car. He went off-road to do a u-turn and once I saw him I slowed down and pulled over. I was charged with going 90 in a 75.

Many years ago, in the 70s, I used to go on what is called "The Sunday Morning Ride". From Mill Valley to Stinston Beach. After breakfast, we'd go onto to bodega Bay. That particular Sunday, myself, "Big Ron" and two other guys were going at it after breakfast. All of us raced, in the AFM production class (I was on my 750 Kawasaki) and we were using both sides of the road, just hauling, dragging stuff, etc.

When we got to Olema, I slowed down, as did the other two riders. Ron went past me, and I wondered why. About a second later, a CHP with lights, passed us after Ron. The other two guys turned around and started back the other way. I knew other CHP were behind us, stopped my bike, hid it, took off my helmet, jacket, etc., and got a cup of coffee. At about 2 pm (some 4 hours later) got back on the bike, and went home.

They all got caught. I didn't. They made me defend them. I got them reduced charges, just speeding, rather than the reckless they'd been cited for. As we left the courtroom, I said to the CHP "I have a Kawaski, just like the one you were looking for." He never said a word, but every time I saw him afterwards, he always stopped me, inspected the vehicle I was in. Guess he figured it out.

93 mph in a 60 or 65 zone. Early '70s in an E-Type Jag on a 2-lane near the Watkins Glen track headed for a Can Am race as I remember. I think it cost $150.

I bought a 1991 M5 about a month ago, and against all better judgement decided to do some high-speed testing the day after buying it. I'm heading from Atlanta to Athens on a Friday night before a big UGA game, knowing full well that's a hot time for the police to be out. I'm doing right about 100, laughing at how much I love the car, as my (then) girlfriend is telling me to slow down lest I get sent to jail and leave her with a stickshift she can't drive. I slow to 80 and immediately notice the lights behind me belong to a Crown Vic. After a mile the blue ones light up and I pull over. I explain that I've had the car just over 24 hours, show him the dated bill of sale, and say I was "probably driving faster than I should" but don't begin to tell him how fast I was going. I also admit I don't live at the address on my license anymore after he asks me. God bless the man, he let me off with a citation for not having changed my address, tells me he clocked me at 87 in a 65, and I should be careful. I'll take State Patrol over local boys any day.

About 5 yrs ago going North on the 51 in Phoenix at about Midnight on my Hayabusa, I was clocked at 104 mph. When I went by him I had to make a decision, Keep going or pull over. Normally I would let her rip but for some crazy reason I pulled over. I was thinking that it was obvious that I could have lost them if I wanted to so I thought he would have mercy since I pulled over. First cop I think was gonna let me go but when the second pulled up , no go. 104 in a 55.
I went to court, the judge asked if I had any respect for my own life. I told him I did, then lied to him and said I sold my bike. He was about to throw the book and I cut him off and asked if I could take the defensive driving class for this ticket. I caught him off guard with that request and he actually granted it after a lil hemming and hawing! Good thing the cops didn't know that earlier that night I had been doing multiple 195 mph runs out on Riggs Rd.
And No, I haven't learned my lesson, I've gotten 3 Reckless Operations this yr alone plus speeding a couple of days ago in my SL.
If you're not in the fast lane you're not living life to the fulliest!

I got pulled over in Texas - cruise control set at 110 mph back when the speed limit was 55. I was sicker than a dog trying to get home - 1000 miles. The cop was totally cool. I lived in Iowa where they would have put me in jail. He asked what year my car was (audi 90s were new then best road car I've drivin) and show me the ticket with the fines listed on it. He pointed with his finger and slowly moved down the list to higher speeds. He stopped at 80 and told me I could pay him or mail it in. Then he just said have a safe day. Best ticket I've ever had. It was like a professional business deal. If I decided to drive over the speed limit, I just had to write the check. I wish all of mine were like that.

I blew past a cop in an unmarked SUV. He paced me at over 120mph.

He let me off with a warning, but made me promise not to speed at all for the rest of the day (a promise which I kept.)

I didn't get pulled over but I was definitely caught. I was on the interstate going 100 about 1/2 mile from my exit and all of a sudden I noticed crown vic headlights come up behind me fast. You can tell a crown vic because of the parking lights. Anyway I kept my speed and got off at my exit, at that point I noticed it wasn't one crown vic but four, all sheriff's dept. cars. They got off with me then went around me and took off. When I got up the road they were all at a wreck. Had they been state troopers one would have most likely stopped me. Our sheriff's dept is pretty good about not worrying about speeding.

One time I got pulled over by a sheriff's deputy for doing 90-something in a 55. He didn't give me a ticket but told me to keep it at 70 or less, that once you get above 15 over they will stop you.

I've been stopped other times by the state police. Two of the times were 87 in a 70. that made me think 87 may be a number they use because they know it is high enough to not get dropped easily. Once it was a trooper I knew so I didn't get a ticket, the other time I got a ticket that my attorney got changed into something that costs $50. One of these I was clocked from an airplane.

    This one is classic

I was riding with my cousin in his new corvette (2001) and he took it up a little bit in speed, about 120 mph. Well we are cruising at that speed and then all of a sudden he looks in the rear view mirrior and says S%&#. He pulls over right infront of the speed limit sign which read 70mph.
The cop walks up to the window asks for liscence and regisrtation then says "son do you know what the speed limit is here?"
My cousin pauses looks at the speed limit sign and simply says "Well I do now"
The cop smirked and said "well do you know how fast you were going?"
Yet again my cousin pauses and says " just a hunch but i think it was probably faster than that (he points to the sign)"
the cop gets a big grin on his face and walks back to his car to check for warents etc. At this point it would probably be a good time to tell you that he has a total of 14 tickets on his record over 22 years.
The cop walks back to the car and says "sorry to ruin your "perfect" record" and hands him a ticket thankfully it was for only a 95 in a 70.
I couldnt help but crack up at it and my cousin just shrugged it off.

I was clocked at 80mph in 45 in the SRT. The cop could have arrested me for reckless, but since it was 5am and I didnt give any attitude, he just gave me 300.00 ticket. $50 to the lawyer and months later the ticket was dissmissed. I love Broward County.

68 in a 45, a very proud moment for me. I believe if you are going to get pulled over for speeding; at the very least it should be 20 over.

Fortunately, my parents are friends w/ someone working with the cops. This person was able to talk to the officer that gave me the ticket; so I plead guilty to zero points(forget the rest). I think it came out to $180, no lawyer.

I was out fro a summer ride with my uncle in his TR. He was nearly in tears when he got a ticket for 31 in 25. Happend to be a school zone but it was mid summer. My uncles plea was... "couldn't you follow us around for a while and give me a ticket worth while?" Small town officer was not impressed (Woodstock, IL). Shortly there after we were out buzzing through bull valley around 140. Joy!

Not so much in rural Victoria I must add. I never saw a police car when we were topping out a hired Hyundai Elantra at 185km/h just off the Great Ocean Road. Perfect long straight and it would be rude not to Vmax a hire car!

My personal favourite is a friend who was pulled for excess speeding in France. 131MPH! in a 110kmh limit. His GPS showed he had braked from a personal best speed of 142mph ;). That will be 750euros, 2 weeks ban and never do that again, sir! He was driving a French car too and they still hated him :D
