Happy Father's Day to everyone!! Why everyone? Because it's a day to celebrate the influence, direction and guidance we all can provide anyone needing help.

My Dad taught me how to work hard, play by the rules and how to pray. The outcome has been pretty good, so far. What did your Dad teach you to do and how will you use it to help others?

The value (instrinsic/extrinsic) of hard work. The importance of (trying) to live an honourable life.

    Let's see... he taught me:
    1. All the trades - mechanics, welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting (ugh), etc.
    2. Work for what you need and want.
    3. Religion
    4. "Do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it as long as you don't infringe on the rights and privileges of others."
    5. "You gotta make it before you can write it off."
    6. "Use your head not your hands." (dispute resolution)
    7. "Never hit a woman... you're gonna want to but don't."
    8. "If you think you owe me for raising you and paying your way (through undergrad and med school), you're right. "And here's how you pay it back - you make it better for your kids than I was able to make it for you."
    9. "Out of respect for your mother always put the seat down."
    10. How to be a political independent with conservative leanings.

    There's more.
    RIP 2004

My dad taught me the importance of keeping up with the times. He never had any interest to learn anything about any new gizmo's after 1970, and that drove me nuts! He passed away from cancer on my birthday in 1995. God bless him!

My dad provided an excellent example of the kind of father NOT to be. I didn't give him a gift or even call him today.

    I feel a bit guilty...

Opps....and just like that: I'm over it! :)

Reminds me of Fleetwood Mac's song..."Cat's in the cradle" or something like that.

    I'd better not get started.......

What did my dad do for me? Wel he taught me:

How to build just about anything w/ tools from Sears.
How to take charge & get it done.
How to design on paper what I imagine – and make it happen.
How to recognize heroes that walk among us every day.
How to appreciate the "need for speed".

Dude, my dad flew (pilot) B-17s in WWII for 28 combat missions then for TWA for 30 years. He died 2 years ago but was driving a red V8 Camaro at 85. It don't get much better.

My dad has taught me value, honor, honesty, hard work, responsibility, I could go on and on.

He's provided me with more than anyone could even hope for. When he started his own business back in '92, he would send my mom and I on vacation while he stayed back and worked. He didn't take his first vacation until 1999. I really hope I am financially sucessful early on so i can surprise him with a fully restored custom 1956 Chevy Bel-Air that he dreamed about as a kid and had the money to afford, but was denied the purchase by his dad.

I did that too. Funny how all things come around. The freaky part is how you get to return the favor almost exactly.

among the many things my father taught me, the most important is to never give up. go for your goals and dont let anything stop you.
he was born into wealth and privilege, then lost everything including his mother during ww2, became a refugee with his father and sister, and somehow landed in the usa, speaking no english, having no money. he eventually became one of the top executives in a fortune 50 company. now he is retired, but has started a couple businesses and is still working hard. he is one of those people that make you want to be a better person yourself. none better. and he is my best friend.

And he should have taught you how to bottle up anger and release it onto smaller and weaker people. Then you would have the meaning of life.
