I've started looking for a new handgun, and am giving serious consideration to some version of a 1911. Right now, one of my favorites is the Kimber Raptor. What do you like?

I've fired a few para-ordnance 1911's over the years and have been impressed. (although the Kimber is an excellent gun too)

Would love to pick up a Wilson Combat CQB. However, I'm liking the weight of the new Smith & Wesson 1911.

This is a WW2 Ithaca 1911a1 .45 given to me by my Grandfather........He purchased the pistol mail order in 1961

A Kimber would be my choice for a new 1911 though.

HMMMMMMM i think a nice can ( supressor to you non NFA folks) would fit really well on there Uro.

    :)

i have a YHM Cobra, but i have yet to want to try it on the 9mm Commander. i would love to hear some thoughts on a suppressed .45, as i have been considering taking the plunge.

are you using a Nielson Device on your supressor?

    :) michael

edit, my can is in 9mm for my uzi/glock/taurus.

I am canned on a USP tactical from time to time. Can't use it at any of the public or even police ranges without getting a lot of static over it. I have not gone to the range in almost a year, I was supposed to take Morgan, I should get on that ;)

I've got a 1911 my uncle had built in the '70s or '80s. It uses mil-surplus frame and slide as well as hammer and trigger with some other surplus parts used. It has a series 70 barrel and bushing and from what I've been told a lot of custom tuning. It has big bomar sights on it and is much more accurate than I am. It runs great and has never given me one issue.

I picked up a Colt New Agent today. I plan to make this my new carry gun. I'm not sure I'm going to like the .45,3" barrel, and alloy frame combo but I'll try it out this week. I hope I can control it. I've been looking for a Springfield Loaded Ultra Compact but no one can find me one so I picked the Colt up.

I looked at some Wilsons today, they are very nice and I've thought about buying one but I just can't see spending almost three grand for one. Not now anyway.

I talked to two different guys at two different shops and they both told me the same thing so I thought I'd ask you guys about it. They said that the new Kimbers since the Series 2 came out, are not as high quality as the old ones.

I know nothing about Kimber so it didn't mean much to me, Has Kimber QC dropped or something?
