In honor of the newly created Cars & Motorcycles category, I'll throw one out. What's your favorite italian motorcycle model and why? For me there are many on the list, but a few that stand out to me. Bimota Tesi: Someday, someday I will own one of these. Came out my freshman year in college, $40k then may as well have been $40M. They are in high teens to low 20's now. It has the same engine as my 851, it would be nice to complete the set. Magni Australia: Handbuilt by the master who engineered MV's grand prix dominance. Uses M-G 8V motor from the Daytona 1000 (another nice one). MV Agusta F4 Mille: Don't get me wrong, the 750cc version is incredible, but the bigger motor would be even more fun. Red/Silver please. There are many more, I could go on all day. Ducati 998R, 888SPO, 748L, FE900, 916SPS, 900 Superlight Moto Guzzi Daytona 1000 RS Benelli Tornado Aprilia Mille SP Bimota SB6R & Dieci........................
A 1968 H-D Aermacchi Rapido! Why? Well, this one was the first motorcycle that I ever owned. Man, that thing could wheelie.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Out of my MV and 996, i go for MV F4, becourse it reminds me of a ferrari, looks great but lacks power and can be beaten by a good jap. But its my Ferrari/ MV F4, all mine.
Actually found a Magni for sale in San Fran area, $16k This Tesi has been for sale for a looong time, but is not street-legal, $15k I think. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Been saveing my big gun till now, here is my Ferrari scooter that i had for christmas, you can only picture my hulking 19 stone body on this beast going to the shops..........game over i think.
888 sp5!!! IT IS THE SUPERBIKE!! crashed mine about a month ago but it will live again. soon, i hope.
Zorro, The Sport 1100 is a great bike to be sure. The originals in '95 with silver paint, or the '97 injected models with yellow are my personal favorites. That red isn't too shabby either.
Steve, I actually have a Magni Guzzi for sale in the dealership right now. It is immaculate and comes with extra body work. It is quite the beast. Also have an SB8R with all carbon bodywork. My pick is the 998RS as my favourite Italian sportbike. The culmination of all of Ducati's race experience and technology on the 916 style race bikes with the best Testastretta they have (actually new 999RS has some interesting engine tweaks over 998RS). Full Magneti Marelli race FI and electronics. All carbon, titanium and magnesium parts and fittings. It's pretty damn cool.
MV Agusta Senna Edition. It's the most beautiful bike I've ever seen, and it is named after my all-time favorite driver.
'02 Ducati 998R euro-market streetbike. My favorite bike (regardless of country of origin) of all time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you ever seen a Saxon Laverda? It uses an alternative front suspension somewhat like BMW's telelever. I think there were only a handful (<10) made. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, something like that. I was going to buy the A bike from them but then the guy who beath me to it and bought the B bike decided it wasn't for him so I made a deal on the B bike. For the most part, the B bike's are the better buys because they've hardly been used. In my case, it has been great. It was Ducati Austin, by the way.
900cc Monster. It is a light, simple bike, aircooled, carbs, you can use it on track days , tours or commuting. It will stay with anyone on a fst curvy road and it is a Ducati. Mine is 10 years old, lightly modified yet completely reliable and still my favorite bike
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I LOVE my Laverdas! Light, nimble and beautiful. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
fave Italian Sport bike? Aprilia Mille. Love it. Won fastest Euro V-Twin out at Bonneville on mine. Rode it across the dias at the Concourso Italiano on it. Confidence inspiring? Oh helllll yes. No matter how hard you push it, it just hangs in there. Go as fast as you like through a corner on it and it just is rock steady. You give up a little bit of "flickability" to the stability, but thats ok in my book. The Duck 999 is a weapon, a scalpel, REAL sharp. A track machine with turn signals. The Aprilia has a little softer edge. But it can be pushed just as hard. Tuono? Love it. Mille with high bars. Plus they are stone realiable. Less maint. than a Duck. Just dead sexy to ride.
