Some of my favorites from Rembrandt - I love Rembrandts paintings. The dark tones and piercing moods.

Albert Bierstadt- captures the wild of the American West. I still like to think of these types of images when I travel here today.

Marcel Duchamp - I had a phase where I was into Futurism in high school - Duchamp, Stella and especially Boccioni.

William Turner - I really like his ocean scenes, and this one "The Slave Ship" is especially powerful. I can't remember if I saw it at Boston MFA or the MET, but it is one to spend some time with. An older black security guard stopped to share with me that he loved the painting too, and that he saw the light and certain elements as angels/Savior taking up the slaves.

I love the dark tones too of Rembrandt. Any "Old Masters" are right up my alley. It took real talent to do what they did and paint the subject matter so well. Also, Jose Puyet does some mighty fine portraits/people - he lived during this century but managed to paint conducive and similarily to the old masters.
