Giancamo/Jimmys here opened in 1949 when they came here from Italy. He brought ovens from Italy in the 60"s. Just recently brought in new bread and pizza ovens from Italy. Jimmy and his son stayed and worked in the familys place for a month just to brush up and vacation. It's the real deal.

Italian anchovies and Jimmys homemade sausage.

    Yeah, that's good.
In general, thin crisp crust, light on the cheese (I know, most people prefer extra cheese) and well done.

    America's First Pizzeria Est. 1905

    * Lombardi's opened in little Italy as a grocery store in 1897. It was established as the first pizzeria in America in 1905 with New York's issuance of the mercantile license.
    * Over One Hundred years of history and still recognized as one of the best.
    * The very best ingredients, Coal fired ovens and long lines can attest to what ZAGAT SURVEY reviewers exclaimed as "Best on the Planet" .

    Dipped in ranch dressing. Yum!

The only problem is I can't find a good pizza place, the favorite mom & pop pizza place went out of business & I'm not a fan of Domino's or Pizza Hut. Papa John's isn't that bad but much more expensive.

Papa John's is more expensive where you live? They have specials all the time for carryout, Large 2-topping for $5.99, or medium for $4.75 in my town.

No one that lives less than a 60 minute drive from New York city should be taken seriously when it comes to having an open mind regarding Pizza or it's toppings (apparently). :)

Yea what's with these New Yorkers' pizza egos? I've tried a handful of pizzerias in NYC and sure it's good, but never was it life-altering like so many New Yorkers think it is. I personally enjoy almost every "genus" of pizza and I love to try new pizza whenever possible to see what's out there. My friend used to have a bumper sticker that said "Pizza is kind of like sex; even when it's bad, it's still pretty good," and I tend to agree with that sentiment.

I lived in NY for a year. Personally, I'd rather have a Gray's Papaya than a NY style pizza! California Pizza Kitchen is still the best!!! :D

I'm a thin crust meat lover's special man but 30+ yr's ago I was bigtime into just bell pepper pizza's. For all the Houston member's where can I find a true brickoven thin crust pizza that's old school like the pizza maker's made that came over from Italy? I drool when I watch the FoodNetwork show's like "Pizza Haven's" or something like that.
I have been told that Brothers Pizza is really good and authentic?

Is Gray's Papaya the place that Anthony Bourdais love's as I believe that's the place he ended his night at with his cabbie on one of his show's and I have also seen it on a pizza special show.
