I know, I know. I was being kind to Gil, putting a Fiat and a real Ferrari in the same sentence. :D :D

True... a thoroughbred V12 should not be mentioned in the same breath as a mid-engined FIAT. :) :p

given the choice between the 2 in this country and it's stupid LHD laws I'd take the 365GTB/4, living in a LHD country I'd take the F40 ... but I wouldn't be unhappy if "all" I had to choose from were these iconic cars :)

I think BJ makes for an interesting counterpoint-I love my Ferrari's but certainly not blind to their failings. It would be a boring place indeed if EVERYONE loved Ferraris. In fact, the more he bags Ferrari's, the more I realise he knows they're supreme cars.
I find it hard to love post F-40 Ferrari's-except for 355 or 458. I admire their current cars greatly and in by any objective measure, Ferrari are currently making their most complete cars, where the image, drivability and performance are in harmony. But in this process of building their most perfect cars, something has been lost. How many modern Ferrari owners really know about Enzo and Ferrari's racing history, except for Schumacher? I'm sure for a generation of people, Schumacher is a greater part of Ferrari legend then Enzo himself, who's spirit now seems to reside in some dusty sub-conscious of the general public.
When a buyer bought a Ferrari pre 1990's, they were aficionado's in the truest sense of the word. Instead of going for the default Porsche, Mercedes SL or BMW, they took the riskier option. A car that was much less reliable, not much faster, maybe with indifferent handling (see BB, Testarossa) but a car that for some reason, transcended its limitations. The whole was definitely greater then the sum of the parts. Maybe the point I'm getting at is that it took money, time, patience and skill to own and love a Ferrari. Now, it just takes money to own a Ferrari. They weren't easy cars to own or drive in the past. Driving an F-40 quick takes skill, driving a 458 is more like an interactive playstation, which when I think about it, requires skill too but to get the best out of a modern is far far easier then with an Enzo era Ferrari. Which is better? In the end, neither I guess. It depends on what you prefer.Me, I love the visceral feel and image of Enzo era Ferrari's.
And getting back to the topic, if BJ loves his E-type over the BB, then who can deny him. Me, I'll take a neglected and bald tyred BB over a mint E every single time, even though BJ's E type sure looks good and truly is one of the great automotive icons.

Is this a picture thread or a talking thread :p

The passion is still there. You guys forget that Ferrari is represents one of the oldest TEAMS in F1 and with all teams you need to sell merchandise. You don't have to be an owner of Ferrari to follow the F1 team (contrary to what OHOS owners tell you) and Ferrari represents Italy in the F1 so there is 60million+ supporters right there that will buy any **** with a Ferrari logo on it.

Anyway back to the pics :D

(none of these pics are mine, found on internets over the years)

Or you could have a 599GTO for (roughly) the advertised price of a plexiglass Daytona and an F40 combined. I thinking know what we'd both choose. :)

I don't......but on second thoughts, your right. You owned a F-40 and if you could drive one, then obviously you don't need any skill whatsoever.
