Anybody knows if the Annual Event that will be held in Florida in October will be part of the 50th year celebration already?

When does the 50th Anniversary celebration starts and where?

2013's Annual Meet is supposed to be the end of the 50th celebration. Have heard that it may be either Indy (if the track cost comes down to reasonable) or Elkhart Lake. For a while it looked like 2012 would be Indy but Palm Springs won out.

Yes, as co-chair of the 2013 Meet, I can tell you that we tried everything to get Indy to be reasonable, but for some strange reason they or rather (he) did not want to commit to an event over 1 year out. So we have decided to do the 2013 meet at Elkart Lake and Road America, which is not a bad track:) We may in fact do something with Indy as part of the Ferrari relay across America, but we will see.

The 50th Celebration will start in October 2012 in Palm Springs and end in August of 2013 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.......that is if the world doesn't end first:)

It is not too early to make preparations for these two events. They will have special events intertwined with the 50th celebration that will be literally once in a lifetime opportunities that are unlike anything we have done before and in some instances we will bring back some things that were the best of what we did over the last 50 years.

In either case, it will be worth it to go to one or both events to see what will certainly be a unique FCA 50th celebration.

Having never been to Road America, and having had to miss this year's meet down here in Georgia because of a conflict (a relative's high-school graduation), I might just go to that one. I just hope that it isn't scheduled the same weekend as this year, because I'll be going to another graduation on that weekend in 2013!

With a bit of luck I will be attending the 2013 meet, as an aside the current FCA president joined our local owners club(the oldest in the world) on a recent 6 day tour accross South Africa.

I am quite excited about the possibility of attending the 2013 FCA event and perhaps meeting a few F chatters, am sure the show of cars will be spectacular, my American geography isnt that goob Elkhart Lake does seem to be a particularly beautiful part of the US.

Elkhart Lake is in Wisconsin north of Milwaukee and a bit west (inland) on a large lake. It is rolling country. Elkhart is a small resort town. The track, Road America, is only a couple of miles away. A wonderful real road race track that dates back to the 1950s. A great track layout with trees and green grass - exact opposite of the sterile boring Tilke creations.

Driving from Milwaukee is less than an hour away. Chicago is a couple of hours. There is a lot of Ferrari history with Road America and before that with the Elkhart Lake roads.

If it is the same as last time the headquarters hotel will be Osthoff Resort. Another old line area landmark that is across the street is Siebkens Resort.

Oh contraire, Elkhart Lake is part of the Kettle Moraine region of the state of Wisconsin.

The area includes 1000s of kettles or ponds and lakes created by colliding glaciers. There are hills, valleys, and lakes in every direction. Elevation changes are every where. And it borders Lake Michigan which is part of the largest fresh water source in the world known as the Great Lakes. The topography is quite beautiful and the track at Elkhart Lake which is called Road America is one of the fastest road course tracks in the country. It has 3 long staightaways and some pretty awesome corners, including the carousel which is a curve that seems to never end.

Now that is not to say you might have to drive thru some not so pretty country to get there........but afterall beauty is in the eyes of the beholder:)

In either case you will have a great time and we look forward to seeing you there:)

Thanks! Definately sounds like a great backdrop for an event. Does anyone know if its possible to bring a RHD car and drive it on US roads, reason I ask is because depending on cost this may be an option in order to partake more closely in this event.

Jacques, you planning to come for the 2012 in Palm Springs or the 2013 in elkhart Lake? Joe and I are talking about Elkhart.

You can drive a RH car in the US. Don't know what it will take to do a temporary import for use while visiting but would believe someone can advise on that.

Told yesterday that there is an expectation of 40+ cars coming from Europe and SA for the event.

At this stage not too sure, wasnt aware of the Palm Springs gathering until reading about it in this thread! Just googled some pictures of Road America and it really seems like a very nice track! My target is Elkhart.

To expand on Jeff's reply, each state has it's own laws (in California it's called the Vehicle Code). I am not aware of any laws that prohibit RHD cars, but that's not to say they might not exist in some state. I've had several RHD F-cars that I drove on the roads around here with no problem; my old 500 Mondial 0434MD comes easily to mind.

I vividly remember the 166 with the 250 Lusso motor. Rode with you to Mark Dees Ranch one time - I had to check for on coming traffic as you went to pass a car.

All motor and no brakes worth mentioning.
