Is there any point ever entering a FCA concourse if Platinum is given to a left to right hand drive conversion car painted and trimmed in different colours than when it left the factory?

    What is the point?

I always thought that concourse was to try a maintain the marque, a litmus paper if you will. An environment for new owners and new members to the club, to learn about their cars and the history of Ferrari from owners of earlier models on the day.
The only thing missing is that this car is not a replica, so I guess QLD doesn't have a monopoly on concourse stuff ups any more.
Just as insulting to Aus Dino being told to retrim and repaint his car on the day, so much for keeping things original.
    Welcome to the club

I'll bring a photograph of a forgery of my membership card.
You can take a photo of me holding the card next to the clubby with the F/cars in the background, so it can go with all the other endless pics of people having lunch.

There used to be some credibility in getting a good concourse score at a Ferrari Club concourse.

Not any more; it is now meaningless.

I just sent this to their enquiries box:

"Are you going to mention that it's a Left to Right conversion, colour and interior change?
This car shouldn't have gone anywhere near the concour judge."

    Good question.

Wasn’t Moretti’s car marked down (presumably for being a hot-rod)? Seems a bit unfair in light of this.

The car in question was the best car on the day. I was part of the judging team. Let me put it another way. A concorso is only as good as the rest of the cars entered.

The car lost points for the conversion, trim and colour. But it was still a platinum car. And it was beautifully presented. A cut above the other entrants in that regard.

It's very, very difficult to deduct points for a colour change, unless you have the build sheets, you don't know. It's one of the reasons the entrants have a cut off period, usually 7 days before the event, so each car can be researched as best as possible.

The judging criteria is on the club website and I draw your attention to points deducted for a colour change. The ICJAG based rules of which the club subscribes allow for a colour change provided it is a period correct colour. Obviously, if two cars presented are tied on points however one has been colour changed, the scoring allows for points to be added to the vehicle in its original colour.

The current scoring system is excellent. It brings the judging into line with overseas standards and unlike the previous FCA system, encourages the cars to be driven. It's one of the reasons I'm involved, because I'm absolutely ruthless when it comes to originality. Minor stone chips, a faded dash, creased leather or thin paint is not the pariah it once was.

The only weird concorso issues seem to come from Queensland. I usually don't go there, it's a law unto themselves at concorso events.

I don't know that Dino in question, sounds nice! But probably in Queensland, so I won't get to see it.
