I'm told that Dave B. won a Gold with his 512bbi, and Helmut & Giesla won a Platinum with their 328.

    Congrats to all!

    Skip, you're spot on.

Also Daytona Rick was there with his car (!) and I was pleased to see our friend Bill Rosen.

Personally I'm over the moon and walking on cloud nine for having driven the F1 track. Driving was more spirited than expected.

And the "endurance award" goes to my buddy Mike who bought Daryl's GT4 and drove it last night all the way from the track to his home in FL in 16 hours straight. The man has nerves and the car lived up to its promise.

    Posting pics later.

Bill, he wasn't talking about you. It was your alter ego 'Billiam' he was referring to.

You may go to your room now!!!

Wow!!! now that I am off cloud 9 and back to reality, let me say that if you weren't at this event, you missed out on the ultimate opportunity. From what I understand never in the history of Indianapolis Speedway has any car club been allowed to exceed a 35 MPH speed limit while touring the track.

Andreas, you left to early. Only minutes after you left, they called us for a second session. Without a pace car.

David Riff & I leaped at the chance. While waiting, David suggested we rig our video cameras up on the dash boards, which worked great. During the second session we were topping well over 100+ MPH on the straight. I was holding back somewhat since I have very little time behind the wheel of the Boxer, and have never driven on a track in my life.

My Boxer did take the Gold concours award for class 6 which included 8 very nice Boxers and 3 TR's. It was the largest class of the concours and the largest number of Boxer's at nationals that anyone could remember. After I prepped the car for judging the head judge, (there were 3) introduced himself as Dick Fritz. Fritz is highly regarded as the top Boxer guru in the US, so it will be interesting to see the judge's sheet in a few weeks.

To the FCA, Mike E., and his staff: Thanks for the hard work that you all put into this event. I can't tell you the last time I had that much fun.

To David Riff, and Andreas: Thanks for the "push" to do track time. I really enjoyed it.

One last note. Helmut & Gisela Schultz won the V-8 Preservation award. Way to go !

    Here's some pics.

    Enjoy!

    Hi Chelle!
Thought you would notice. Not the real McCoy, but a very good rebody, with great build quality. It really caught my eye.
I have more pics which I'll be posting soon.

Here are some additional pics. I went to the Race? on Sunday but took more movies than pics. For the road rally on Monday we started off on a lap of the F1 course. I was able to get to 60 on the straight away, I videoed the entire lap so looking forward to reviewing them. There was a blue Daytona coupe that the owner just picked up with approx. 3800 origninal miles on it, all orignal car. There are pics of Mike E's Dino (Special thanks to Mike for letting me hang around with the club). While Andreas had his pic taken against one of the two Ferrari's from the IMS museum I was able to get inside the other and get my pic taken, That was being in the right place at the right time and just asking. The light gold (I think 250 Spyder) crusied most of the way back to Chicago with me so that was fun as we switched off leading. Now you guys need to make it out to Pebble Beach for the Big One

You bet: I consider myself very lucky to have gone to Montreal this year for my GP fix. I went to Indy on Monday so I didn't miss nothing.

I still don't want to talk about what happened on Sunday. The stupidity of those decision non-makers upsets me too much.

It was a sad... sad... sad sight, and it's going to take a long time for me to be able to look at F1 with any sort of respect again.

We left about 3 laps into the race when we realized that the cars were definitelty "in the garage".
