Took a while then, didn't it? Ferrari Club Australia (FCA) is the Ferrari authorised owners club in Australia and in 2010 signed an agreement with Ferrari that defines the FCA's use of the Ferrari name, logos, manufacture of regalia and other activities. From: https://www.fca.org.au/about
You've lost me mate.....That doesn't take much these days as I've been working so hard....I don't even know what day it is......
From 2004 onwards, Ferrari began to insist that clubs worldwide sign an agreement with Ferrari. The FCA was one of the holdouts. In 2009 Ferrari gave us an ultimatium, sign or they would take legal action against the club using the term Ferrari ( yes, despite the name registration). The members rejected signing the contract after the " FCA Vote No" campaign. Consequently the commitee tasked me to provide a proposal that the members would agree to and that Ferrari also agreed to. The FCA signed the contract in 2010. The reason why Ferrari had a case to argue against the FCA using the Ferrari Club Australia name was that in 2004 Ferrari had registered the club logo "roundel" with IP Australia and this included the wording "Ferrari Club Australia". Our advice was that a decision about the use of the name could go either way, and that usually the party with the most $$$ wins. Commonsense dictated that we negotiated something, rather than litigate.
Imagine what a mess it would have been if the Vic President at the time was negotiating directly with Ferrari about starting a new club! That wouldn't have helped with our bargaining power. Surely something like that would NEVER happen though.
Nothing to do with it, actually is was the "f40" that finally led to a review and the adoption of the international rules in 2014 Also, cars less than 3 years old are no longer eligible for concours awards. There is no winning a class per se, cars are judged against themselves and every car enterd could win a platinum. There is a best of show ( highest platinum score) and I dont recall that being won by a new car - its been a 328, 360, Dino 246 .
I joined the club in 97/98 and got a whole bunch of stuff stating Australian Ferrari Register, then a couple of years later the FCA stuff started coming out ..... 2010 seems a long way past the issue date of paraphenalia ?? I thought 2010 was the s**tfight date ??
OK, so my request for information (National Committee meeting minutes) has not been responded to yet, although one committee member (who shall remain nameless) has offered to answer any questions I have. Here's my response: Thanks for the offer (omit), but I'm looking to see what an 'ordinary member' without personal access to a committee member is offered...at this point, the answer is nada - no response to my request. I originally put the request to my State president and he referred it to National president since the Acting Secretary is on leave. I have no beef with any individual committee member, or either of the Presidential candidates at this point, but I am not particularly happy at the lack of transparency which is being indicated by various semi-public comments which may, or may not, be accurate. If I don't get anything by Wednesday, I may take up your offer but I'd really prefer to judge the situation based solely on written evidence. Feeling like a mushroom at present...
