All this from a man who can't think, and has three different positions on close to the same thing..... and who thinks we've recently got a big concession because someone said we do, when the legal words needed to support the claim are not there. All just my opinion of course !
been reading this rubbish. nothing like a few lawyers, bored public servants and people who like the sound of their own voices to destroy a club. isnt it the members who act as unofficial ambassadors for the marque??? ab
bored public servants reminds me of the time I went to a teachers X/mas party and asked 'were there any non lesbians pedophiles at the function"
at the end of the day if it all goes pear shaped I dont need a club to drive and enjoy my car, I will meet up with other ferrari owners and have our own little cruise, no politics
Short answer NO. The only two things that have caused the FCA grief in 37 years are other large organisations trying to impose their will on the FCA to meet their CHANGED agendas. When that happens the club has either to cop it, get its way (a bit) or go somewhere else (and start again). The members will decide what happens and part of that process, unfortuntely, involves contributions that are rubbish mixed with those that have substance - equally unfortunate is that some people won't be able to tell the difference. The worst aspect of such discussion is that certain parties are inclined to resort to irrelecance and insult as a form of argument, and too often contribute little in the process.
look...I've seen you with a bee in your bonnet before. Like now, you let it screw with your head and you become irrational. Like the last time, you've once again chosen the losing team. You'll get it right one day. Just be a conformist like me and you'll be fine.
That's exactly what I've been saying. Let's just sign and see how it goes. Not worth fighting with ferrari or other members about it. and yeah...if it turns to rubbish, we vote with our feet.
Mr. Dinoprof.. I think you're living in the past. I too would enjoy the way's that used to be. The days that Ferrari Spa put a new model out every 10 years, instead of a new one every year and the operation of their business which was non-corporate. What we are talking about here, are the days when "Enzo Ferrari" was alive. One could say, "that when he died all that we knew and loved died with him". I for one have a great passion for Ferrari and the history of the marque. For me to own an F40 (which was built for Ferrari's 40th anniversary and the last car that Enzo saw. Any my 512BB....the last hand built (scagletti) car, are part of that special time. But that's history and the world has moved on. Ferrari spa has moved on and now they want to POLICE what a lot of their world car clubs are doing. That's the corporate way and we are stuck with it. Your National Committe (which has been voted in by the members) have agreed to lobby the members for a "YES" vote, because we believe that FCA needs to be involved in projects (like our rallies) with the help and the official okay from the dealers and the factory. When we have rallies the dealers do help with extra money etc. etc. FCA cannot exist without Ferrari Spa AND the dealers being on our side. Zagami's in Melbourne have been told NOT to be involved with FCA until this SPA document has been signed. Dinoprof you are not helping this process by being negative. This FCA -vs- Ferari spa thing has been going on long enough. Let's just sign the bloody thing and get on with what we do. AND what do we do............well we have a car club that SHOULD be about driving our cars and the love of our cars. You have suggested that SPA will fire a few broadsides when it comes to running the club, and telling us what to do. There is no proof of this and I have the feeling that all this "signing our document" thing is all about selling and policing all their crap like, shirts, coffee mugs etc, etc. And you're probably right when you say they don't care about helping owners of the older cars. Well let's get real here.....they are in business. They sell cars. They sell NEW cars. If I take on board your line about not caring about the older cars.................... then I think you've answered the whole thing...........they don't care about older cars. They don't care about the running of the FCA. They don't care about the carbi guys. They care about selling NEW cars to the gold chain jerks and selling those jerks any jackets, shirts, sunglasses, coffee mugs and hats as they can. And WHAT other car club has a factory that cares about their older cars. I'm not aware of one. Let's just sign the damn thing and get on with life. And AIRCON is correct, if all this doesn't work, we'll start another club (maybe make the carbi guys a bigger club). But we'll be no worse off by signing the document. I'm going back to bed.
Gee, 2 "minor" ones come to mind that actively support older cars by ensuring spare parts supply for older cars. Porsche http://www.porsche.com/international/accessoriesandservice/classic/genuineparts/ Mercedes http://www.mercedes-benz-classic.com/content/classic/mpc/mpc_classic_website/en/mpc_home/mbc.flash.html Also from the Merc website: Daimler AG founded a special umbrella organization as the link between the company and the individual brand clubs throughout the world. It also maintains close contacts with the workshop, the replacement parts department, the vehicle trading department and the archives of Daimler AG. The goal of club management is to structure the worldwide club scene while at the same time ensuring the clubs unrestricted autonomy. Only independent and strong partners are loyal supporters of our common aims. Completely different attitude to Ferrari, who are more concerned more about the production and sale of "regalia" and restricting what the club can do, than keeping their heritage alive by providing parts and information. M
I've always said that....Ferrari gives us nothing. That's why I'll be happy to walk if they end up screwing us around. I still don't think they will, but I have alternatives!
you can still buy spare parts for older Ferrari's. Just not from the factory. No matter how hard we try, we ain't gonna get Ferrari to change the way it does things. there are some members that believe we should "take on" the factory and NOT sign the document and let them take us to court, over the use of their "NAME" in our club name. I'm not one of them. the National Committee (voted in by the members) are keen to have the document signed. I will be voting "YES"
I'm sure there are many more companies, I mean even Holden has managed to license Rare Spares to make parts to "keep the bogans on the road". M
For what its worth I have a Ferrari and Lamborghini....yes i swing on both sides of the fence. One is my beautiful italian lady which i would take home to mother The other is a hot blooded italian mistress. BTW my wife loves them both. When she turned 40 she knew i was going to bring 2 20 year old home. She said it would be cheaper than a divorce. Anyhow back to the topic.... I have been considering joining the clubs but seem a little reluctant. I know there are some great people in the clubs that devote alot of time and energy. Then i also "gather" there is alot of politics. So basically i don't want to get involved and end up being caught in the politics. Apart from a couple of forums such as this one i keep to myself and don't really get to meet you guys (who i know are all great judging from the clowning around on the forums). It would be great if the clubs (say Ferrari and Lambo etc.) could all work together and do good stuff. Like support the Make a Wish Foundation and offer a drive day for sick kids who would love to go for a drive in an exotic. Wouldn't it be great putting a smile on these kids faces. Imagine the parents continuously caring for these sick kids. It would be worth a million bucks to see the kids forget about their problems for a few minutes and smile. The F1 GP is coming along, wouldn't it be great to take some kids around the track or sell rides in the cars to the general public and donate 100% of the proceeds to a charity. That in my opinion would be something the clubs should consider.
