    Etc: We will meet up at Boardwalk Saturday morning nice and early ( 8-8:30 ) to enjoy some lattes & breakfast. Then, at 9am we will start the presentation, then answer some questions on the showroom.
    Then we will present FCA DFW Member Pat L his " Red Book " for his F40! After a short story or two, we will gather in the front shop, where another members 308 is in the Classiche inspection process. Get up and personal, answer more questions, and take a look around. As if that wasn't enough, we will head out for a short drive to Hard 8 BBQ in The Colony for lunch , All courtesy of Boardwalk Ferrari!

    Classiche bookings and completions are being used by the factory to determine allocations of new production cars. Dealers doing things like this at least make people interested and understand the process vs. feeling like it is a money grab.

    Any thoughts after going?

    Thanks again Steve and Boardwalk for the education, the display of cars in the showroom and the service area, and LUNCH! It was, as always, a great time. That Daytona was beautiful.....

    I'm obviously not the only one to respond since I am on the Dealership side of the desk, as well as President of the Chapter, and an owners.

    But since you asked.

    I have not heard that Classiche is being used to determine allocation of new production cars.
    I have heard that its being promoted to support owners who are interested in maintaining their vintage Ferrari while working within the factory network doing so. Ferrari Premium is another Classiche department offering, lower priced replacement parts and discounted labor for those repairs & services.
    The number of Classiche events in increasing each year, in order to attend these events, having a Classiche Ferrari is required, its the gateway.
    I believe Classiche in partnership with a entering a few IAC/PFA judged events is the perfect way to " maintain " a vintage Ferrari.
    ( Full disclosure, I am a IAC/PFA/FCA judge & consulting member for the IAC/PFA board of directors )

    Money grab.... yes its a profit center....that to date is more of a loss leader for us, in an effort to support FCA members with older Ferrari.
    Sure there is money to be made, while offering a valuable service to those interested in all that Classiche has to offer. I understand why some would consider it a money grab, though mostly from those outside the know, who have a preconceived notion of Classiche, and buy into the hype against the Redbook... its ok, it's not for everyone. But it does help round out the portfolio of new cars & vintage in an owners collection.

    After the event, I looked back at the topics of discussion and realized I just broke the surface and that there was way more to share than the time I had allowed. Maybe we will have another event later this year to continue the discussion. In the meantime, I'm here and will try and engage as time allows on the topic.

    This was a Boardwalk Ferrari event, where they invited owners of vintage Ferrari to attended.
    FCA DFW supported the event, promoting it to members several weeks in advance through our weekly emails, Facebook event, and IG for those that follow us there. If you are not already, please consider joining the Chapter, we have many many more interesting events already on the calendar for the year.

    It is without question not a product for everyone but I certainly would not call it a money grab. It is just a product offered like any other.
    For many people it is a stamp of approval by Ferrari. I understand many people put little or no value on that. however many do.
    Ferrari globally is offering many events and Classiche certification is the ante to participate. To many that is enough by itself.
    It has been a very divisive topic and that always leaves me puzzled. People can choose to do it or not.

    One other thing. Just like General Foods puts some pressure or incentives to sell more Cheerios it would come as no surprise Ferrari put pressure or incentives to sell more Classiche certifications. Every single company in the world does the same. Why would it suddenly be inappropriate for Ferrari to do the same?

    I really enjoyed the experience. Our car is never going to be Classiche, and I never felt pressure to keep it in that form. I think there is a a type of owner/buyer who is specifically looking for that, and I'm very glad Ferrari offer a program for that. I really liked that it isn't about having a show car, but it is about having the car be Ferrari. The example 308 I think was a perfect example of how it isn't a money grab, or at least how they didn't go overboard with it. They are certainly not as crazy as the NCRS is.
