Does anyone else work for a company that blocks Fchat? As of Monday, I discovered that this website now falls under the no-no list. Is there anyway around this without getting burned or am I SOL? Best, John
Damn right!!! Quit that job!! You don't want to work for a boss that doesn't want you to be happy while you work.
I know everyone says you should quit right away, and that was my first thought, but maybe give them a second chance. Insist that fchat be removed from the blocked list. If refused, then quit! If they give you any trouble, sounds like constructive termination to me... j/k. well, not really. guess it's a gray area...
Let's see. Blue Tooth Phone + $20 Blue Tooth USB adapter = bypass filter! Can also use several sites to route traffic over a different port than 80 for web. It works too.
Hah! Thanks for the constructive feedback guys - I'll put my notice in on Monday. Damn corporations... Emil - I'll look into the name of the blocking service on Monday. Vik - thanks, PMed him. Best, John
I never posted here, but I read you for a while and I think I can help with your problem. You have to connect to Internet through a proxy server, which will do all your outside connections for you, so admin at work will see only your connection to proxy (which is not blocked). Here is a list of all the proxies in the US (and other countries): http://www.samair.ru/proxy/proxy-16.htm. Disadvantage of this: it's slower then direct connection. Hope I could help a little.
Try http://www.thebestemployee.com/forum/ If they're just using hostname based blocking, this should let you through
