Here are a few shots from my next project...which I may finish tonight. It's my Revell F430 "practice" car for attempting a black/black matte finish. It's turning out pretty nice. The micro sol is still showing on the seat backs, so don't think it's a mistake. :) There are probably plenty of others to point out. :p

I first sprayed the seats with Tamiya semi gloss black, then a light dusting of flat black from a distance to give a little texture. The rims are gold with a very small amount of black to darken it a little. The wire mesh pieces (not shown) were a pain to get just right, but I finally managed to. By this time, I was too tired to take any more pictures. Hope you enjoy the shots.

A product called Blacken-It works well for the photoetch parts. You can also use gun bluing which usually has the same active ingredient.

First post of 2010, the Revell Ferrari California in 1/24th scale. I am using the Hobby Design resin wheels so that I can do this car(or the proper Euro version without side lights). It is silver with a red leather interior and red calipers. I will have it done for the Ferrari Expo 2010 in Chicago.

    Happy New Year!!

P.S. The Revell kit is very nice, with a detailed motor and interior. So far the chassis and body are glued together and they fit like a glove!! I bought the closed version with the hardtop molded to the body.
Something I like alot on this kit are the windows that glue in from the outside. That means you can put the windows in last after assembly is completed.

Hobby Design just did a photoetch set for the Revell California 1/24th kit.
Here is a photo. Looks like all you will need is on the sheet.

Good luck on the 599XX. I am almost finished with the body wich really required a ton of work. Very poorly thought out body design.

Thanks. Should have the finished Dino 246 photos this week. I am trying to complete all my half finished models by April. I may have more than 4 new models to display at the Ferrari Expo.

    Tom,

What are the sources of the wheels you used and the decal set?

Nice work, Tom! Those look good. I hate the 1:1 California...but strangely enough, I keep getting drawn into the Revell HT kit...trying to resist...resistance may be futile. The Hobby Design wheels are a nice touch.

I used my own decals(not for sale), although Studio 27 did make a incomplete set for the Dino 246 Lemans car. The wheels are from a guy in Belgium who is casting up seat and wheel sets for the flares and chairs 246 Dino.

I like the California with the top up. The rear end is ugly in my opinion, but I like the rest of the car. Ferrari is doing some nice styling again, starting with the front of this car and all of the Ferrari 458. I think the ENZO was the low point in modern Ferrari styling, although its shape does serve a purpose(to scare children and aid aerodynamics!).
