Rivets are molded in the body, on the P3 they are glued on the body piece by piece.
Thought about doing the same with the P4, but decided to build it, they way it should be built.. I used a toothpick and some matt black paint to color the rivets before polishing.
Whats left after polishing looks very realistic. With the kit came a "driver" , haven't decided I will use it... yet.

Nice work on that 1/12 Daytona....but that body and it's side windows are terribly out of proportion to the real car.

    Thanks guys,
The daytona is a huge car, a bit to chunky perhaps... the side-profile is a bit out of scale (cockpit is a bit to high and big,).
Masters are made by mr. Ruf from AMR, known for accuracy.
    Overall its a nice car.

It was a bit of a struggle building it, had to repaint it twice, parts needed a lot of work to fit properly..

The P4 on the other hand, is a joy to build!

Ah well...just because a model is 1/12 doesn't make it great. Maybe it's harder to master in that scale than 1/43.

    I don't think scale matters..
Its more about when its made.
Nowadays, its a lot easier to create the right shape in a modell.
Before the early 1990's most companies made good and bad models.
(have seen some wrong shaped, but very nicely made modells over the years..)

A good modell is not only about downsizing, Making it smaller needs a lot of adjustments on shape and curves.

The true craftsmen made them by hand and eye, which is allways a personal interpretation of the subject.
Even a Conti is not allways correct!

The P4 is said to be one of the very best ever built. I can't confirm that.
To me its a tough choice between a few very talented builders.
de Conto and Fumey are extremely good, but the P4 in my avatar is just as good!
    (and even rarer)

Its fascinating to study the right and wrongs of a modell and the way its shaped.

Yes, I've seen some Conti's that were definitely off.

The 250GTO's made by Gerald Wingrove were not that good either...
But i've also seen some outstanding Conti's.
The 166 Barchetta or the 330GTC are phenomenal!

I would think the 250 GTO is one of the hardest shapes to get right.

Im really suprised one of the brainless diecast companies has not decided to do another 250GTO in 1/12th scale(the Revell is crap!!). I guess they are to busy duplicating each others 1/18th scale models.
    We have 2 Enzo's and F40's in 1/12th(Tamiya/Kyosho and Kyosho/Fujimi).

I heard a lot of people say Revell did a good job on their 250 body shape...but I never saw one in person.

The Revell GTO is the only 1:12 ever made, which explains the popularity, being a diecast made in the 1990's the quality is not great!

Can't understand why a companie like MG never made it.
In high-end diecast it would be huge a moneymaker for Kyosho or Tamiya!

    Thanks!

Yes, I'm going to make some design changes to it, namely the c pillars and the back.

    Hey all,

Haven't contributed to this yet, mainly cause my skills are absolutely woeful! Thought I would share my latest endeavour though. From start to finish it has taken nearly a year, although there was a good 6 months where I didnt touch it at all!

This is a Tamiya 1:20 F1-89 (640) Early version - attempting to represent Mansells victory in Brazil although I realised later that the particular Brazil car didnt have the sticky out brake ducts... but hey.

Managed to source enough suitable Tobacco decals and lined the engine bay with tinfoil, but the rest is out of the box, was quite pleased with the drivers face though :)

    Cheers for looking

And the finished car. This is my own redesign, nothing revolutionary, but pretty sweet in my opinion, your comments are welcome and anticipated. I used Enzo rims, dechromed and cc brakes. It's shortenend behind the door, the roof and the stock rear was widened. Rear window and sail panels are meant to keep in the Ferrari styling theme. It's not meant to be accurate, it's a custom.
