Anyone here on FerrariChat have an F50? I haven't heard anyone commenting that they have one, nor seen personal photographs. I hear about the occasional Enzo, F40 or 288 GTO but not F50. Anyone driven all four that can give a good (long) description to help narrate my dreams?
The only description of the F50's driving characteristics that I've heard is from Jeremy Clarkson and I'm severely disappointed in his opinion.

I know its better than all that. A car of compromises?! Bah!

As crazy as it may sound...I would take a Ferrari F50 over any car built ever. I still haven't seen one in person, but they haunt my dreams nightly. :)

I think the truth is that sadly the F50, unlike the Enzo, was open to anyone who could afford it.

Hence most of the people that bought them have hidden them in underground car parks hoping to make a huge return at a latter date.

Unlike the Enzo, which was offered to Ferrari's best customers first. And for that reason, you see more of them at car events.

    Hope i've got that right?

I recall it was minimun 2 other Ferrari and Ferrari researched you to make sure you wouldnt turn around and sell it right away.

You may think that in the pictues its a pretty large car. WRONG! I was shocked its pretty small for a car with such power. Same goes for the Enzo. The F50 that i saw and touched happened to be stolen a week later. Still saddens me to this day.

Ferrari F50 had more strict owner requirements than the Enzo does.

    F50 Requirements to my knowledge:

    1) Current ownership of 2 or more Ferrari automobiles.
    2) Be in good standing with Ferrari.
    3) Referred or known by the "Ferrari Family".
    4) Downpayment of $200,000 USD, I believe that's the right number.
    5) A two-year lease was required before actual "purchasing" of the F50. Ferrari did not want the 1,000,000 price tags of the F40 to resurface with the F50.

I'm sure exceptions were made for some of these standards, depending on how much Ferrari loved you or, more importantly, how deep your pocket book was.

    Albert,

Have you driven that Dino yet and how is it!

( Not quite in the same league as an F50, but personally I think it's far better looking!?!)

Took the old girl out a few weeks back. But i'm too busy learning to cope with the power of the F40, what with all the rain we've been having of late.

But i do agree, the Dino is by far the better to look at.

Like any mentally defective Ferrari enthusiast, i carry the VIN of that car in my wallet, at all times... ZFFTG46AXS0103494... It's a red F50 that was stolen from Algar Ferrari on 07/16/2003... Definitely a sad thing...

September 16th, 2003, you're absolutely correct... My little nine looked like a little seven - it's a small piece of paper in my wallet, along with the information of two other stolen Ferraris - i had to write small... :) Sorry for the mistake...

I'm just sitting here wondering what would happen if, God forbid, Carbon was ever involved in an accident and was unconcious, or had amnesia, and police investigating the matter ran the VIN numbers they found in his wallet. :D

ROTFLMAO...!!! Holy crap, that's hilarious...! Years ago - when i was MORE obsessive compulsive than i am now (if you can believe it) - i used to carry spare keys in my wallet... They were all hidden in different places... i even had a hand cuff key and i would practice - while my hands were handcuffed behind my back - getting my wallet out of my front pocket, finding and removing the key and unlocking the handcuffs... Thankfully, my fear of being detained for no reason by vague, Men In Black-type authorities has waned over the years... :)

wasn't there one that was stolen and repainted silver?
    or am i imagining things
    not to get off topic
but how many f50's are remaining out of the 349?
i know 1 was crashed and 1 is definitely stolen ... any more?

    edit
i think i read about the silver one in Forza ferrari magazine, it was a letter from an important guy and there was also an article about an italian ferrari meet with jim spiro's black f50 and another guy's red one
