    Will, glad to hear your mother is safe and unhurt.

    I can understand the reaction to try and find out who the sick SOB is that did this, but if you already have the License Plate number, shouldn't you call the local authorities? Better to have local PD go knock on this guys door than for you to get involved and potentially muddy the waters of future prosecution either criminally or civilly. (disclaimer - I'm no lawyer, but I watch them on TV!) Really though, go to the cops, it's what we pay them for.

    Sometimes the police are not as efficient as you would imagine. I had an 'incident' that required a number to be traced. The cops came up with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    I got some help here and found out information that the cops never found.

    I don't have delusions that the police are perfect. There are sh!tty cops, and there are good cops.

    But when you have a toothache, you should at least talk to a dentist. If you're short game is lacking, talk to a golf pro. If you have a criminal situation, at least give the police a chance.

    I agree 100%. I had just assumed that since it was a traffic related accident the police had already been involved to some degree. Also, I hope I didn't paint police officers in a poor light. I know several and they put their lives on the line everyday and conduct themselves and their investigations with the utmost professionalism.
