Using a digital SLR and a batterypack (2 batteries), you will not be able to empty your batteries on one single day. Just don't use the display when shooting, that's the one eating all the energy. On the 'Doe een wensrit' I shot about 600 pics and the batteries where not even close to being empty.

So we have around 10.000+ pics of the event??
I'll bring also my 1GB memorycard and my Laptop with me so I have no limit!
And I also bring my Videocamera with me and I'll make a nice movie about the event.

I'll just bring my car! I understand that it can handle up to 315 pictures per minute.

I bought an Olympus Ultra Zoom last summer, it's great but it seems used to having bateries for lunch. Still, its lightyears more comfortable than back in the days where I carried an oldfashioned mirror-reflex bodie with a bunch of lenses around ...

Kingpin328, a digital SLR is a digital version of the oldfashioned mirror-reflex as you call it. Mine is a Canon 350D and I will bring it to the Deil meeting.

Sorry for the confusion, but don't count on me bringing a Mercedes to the meeting. If I could, I would!
