I am sure there is a good reason for this, but having installed a new firewall sw, it constantly bangs me telling me that rackspace.com is trying to establish a TCP connection on port 80. Other similar chat boards powered by LAMP platforms don't do the same thing.

I am a little rusty on cookie collections, but I don't think it's that.

p.s. all other networking apps were shutdown, I ran spybot, and still I get this only when I open fchat.com.

looks like it has to do with reading cookies on your system.

Hmm, why would FerrariChat.com cause rackspace.com to ping your machine?

I know vB uses cookies to retain your login and stuff. Let me know.

I use rackspace for our sites and am very pleased with the service.

I rebooted, started ethereal and ferrarichat, and now the firewall doesn't complain about getting 'banged', nor does ethereal show any incoming tcp connection requests. Strange... maybe there was some in memory browser applet that spybot or firefox didn't detect. Well, for now, all seems well.

If I find this to happen again, I'll fire up ethereal to find the culprit on my system.
