Regarding Fchat rules, or the lack thereof. I dont know if anyone reads the rules anymore, but rule number one is becoming a joke. Rules only work when they are enforced, and if no one is going to enforce anything, its going to spiral out of control. This place is becoming so disrespectful and vicious towards everyone, I am not sure I can stay any longer. People come, people go, thats part of life. But it seems lately that more and more older people with knowledge and expertice, as well as historical information are just shutting up and or leaving.

I grew up differently. I grew up in a part of the country with the solid fear beat into me that if you said something that was mean or vengeful to someone, you would most likely be picking a few of your teeth up off the floor. If not by the one you insulted, one or more of thier buddies would step in and handle it. People stuck up for each other and defended thier friends. Now everyone just walks away and leaves people they might call a friend to be attacked and ridiculed and fend for themselves. No one stands up for a friend anymore and defends whats right.

Anyway, fix your little problem here or more good and decent people are going to leave, and all your going to have left is a bunch of metal head banging numbskulls. As for me I am going into lurk mode for a while until I see if something changes. If not, count me out. But just know that I have quite a few emails from others who have been feeling the same way, and I would bet its just the tip of the iceberg. When it's no longer any fun to come here, who will? I sure aint that big a glutton for punishnment.

Those who disregard civility and chivalry need their virtual teeth kicked as far as possible.

Unfortunately, the majority of the time, offending posts are either not reported or not reported properly. For instance, this past week, I've received a dozen "please edit/delete x post/thread" PMs... in subforums I am not a Moderator in. For the most part, which post or threads is vaguely referred to in said PMs. This does neither party any good, if I went to bed, slept, worked & returned to find a PM sent 16-18 hours prior.... just like today.

Each subforum has it's own set of Mods. When a user clicks the *Report a Post* button which looks like an exclamation point [ ! ] or two []!!, each of that subforum's Moderators see the BatSignal.

Otherwise, good folks like yourself can be on a thread "asking" for a Moderator all day, but a Mod will be unaware unless someone else notes it on the F-Chat Police Thread and said Mod opens said thread or simply stumbles across the offending thread/post.

We're more than happy to kick teeth like a field goal, just need the audible snap. The sooner, the better, for all of us.

How about users that are just looking for a little attention and drama now and then? :D

Like I told you by PM, the user you reported has NEVER been reported to me before and I don’t recall any discussion of that user in the mod forum. Nobody has a perfect memory and especially when 45,000 users. You did the right thing initially by drawing my attention to it, but the first thing you should do is report any offending posts with the “!” report post button. We have 30 or so moderators that can discuss this in private and make what we think the best decision is.

Don’t get in the trap that what you think is best for FerrariChat.com is best for FerrariChat.com. You know what is best for you, but I doubt that is best for 45,000 users around the world representing much diversity. We do recognize our core values and target market and try to be as individually acceptable to Ferrari enthusiasts as a 45,000 member city can be.

We’ll deal with incidents on a case by case basis. Often it just requires a little two way adjustment. It takes two to fight and usually the thinner skinned “takes internet way too seriously” party gets pummeled and their only out is public dramatic declarations the world is coming to an end.

    another reminder...

    1) I've never seen anything reported about the user in question before.

    2) I've never seen anything reported by you before.
