of course lah... how to miss the smell on both sides of Lorong Chuan. I lived at Brighton Crescent... u?
Got played out by Lawrey's. Had sunday lunch reservations for US beef...but they ran out by Friday. Next shipment in a few days time. Fong! How?
Eventually went back to Lawrey's... not the same. Poor beef quality. I still recommend The Tarven and Angus House (Takashimaya) for steaks.
Mate, marbeling what makes all the difference.... btw. its called Wagyu (AUS) and there was a broad selection of AUS / USA (limited) beef on display during the FoodAsia S'pore exhibition from 25-28th.April. certain beef brands (breeds) from AUS have much better quality compared to USA beef, you just need to know where to eat or order wholesale....... regards, DILLIGAF ps: only Snake River Farms in USA produce "Wagyu style Beef"..... Fresh Gourmet S'pore is there distributor.... enquire regarding Stockyard Beef (AUS) once you contact Fresh Gourmet S'pore (Stockyard is the best!)... same importer/distributor....
I had the wanton mee... excellent! Noodles were firm and not over cooked. The wanton was plump with prawn and the wrapping was soft. My dad had the Ngaw Lam Meen (Beef Brisket Noodle). He said "very good". The "Thousan Layer Tofu with Pork Floss" was cold (i think it was meant to be cold)... it didn't do much for me. Would I go back? Yes.
Had the "Thousan Layer Tofu with Pork Floss" just now...tried before. This is the 2nd time. Durian Fried Rice not bad... special.
Let's revive this a little. Not exactly Singapore but Malacca. The chicken rice stall is dotted all over the old town. This one is @ the right corner old shophouse right after the bridge & opp the OCBC bank. Pricey, rice ball is better than the main stall in Jonker's street but I find the chicken meat a little tough. Drinks are expensive, a Thai coconut is RM4.50. But the shop has people qeueing out even under hot noon sun. Chilli is good. I tried the Nonya Laksa @ RM3.50 the night before by the street hawker & it was good but don't touch the sourish Asam laksa. The Chendol is too sweet, better ask them not to add too much Gula Melaka (brown sugar syrup). Image Unavailable, Please Login
the chicken rice is indeed damn shiok !! thinking of going up this weekend ! you guys should try the yong tau foo near the charred burnt old cinema round the corner. but better go early before 10 am... they sell out quite fast. must try is the fried beancurd skin !!
I had the famous Punggol Nasi Lemak in Upp Serangoon Rd few nights ago. Business was so good you'd have to Q for at least 20mins or more. But sadly, the quality has gone down the drain. The coconut rice is no longer fragrant, fried chicken wings are smaller, in fact just about everything does not taste good anymore. Their branch @ Katong is much better but rice portion is pathetic. Close on Thursdays. 5pm-2am. I've tried the famous Changi Village hawker stall, not that great either. In fact their neighbour is better. Those next to NUS are So-So. I don't know what you guys think but I think to deliver good food, it takes patience, fresh ingredients, good kitchen, experience & dedication. With dedication being no.1 without it you can have the best kitchen & ingredients but your food taste bad. Where else can I find good Nasi Lemak?
Melaka. Masjid Tanah. As authentic as it's meant to be. Real Nasi Lemak means : Hot, slightly sweet sambal. Steamed, NOT boiled rice.(coconut in lieu of water) Slice of boiled egg. Sprinkle of deep fried micro-anchovies. All of the above wrapped in a 6" X 3" package. However, for modern ones with all other offerings, in KL : Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa, Kampung Bharu.1700-0500. Bukit Aman ! seriously, at the Lake Gardens, near Bukit Aman, MY Police HQ. The area is also called Tanglin. (Nothing to do with SG's Tanglin etc..)0700-1200. My mother-in-law's from Melaka/Nyonya and she makes a heckuva NL..
Is this the same Nasi Lemak at Brighton Crescent along Serangoon Garden Way? and not upper Serangoon? And not cheap!!
There was one time, a couple of years ago, 2002 methinks that I just finish supping at Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa and en route to a..a...KTV (you know, to be entertained by contractors..) and at Jln P.Ramlee's intersection I saw a Maser 3200, silver and SG number plate. Two males. Went alongside and the Maser pulled to the left, going uphill towards Shangri-La/Weld. I was with my Partner and in a Beemer e39. Of course the Maserman tak pandang..! The passenger was an Ang Moh and the driver, deffo an Asian (tough lookin' guy). Maybe it's you...hehe!
hmmm... I always at Equatorial Hotel... could be. 2002 I had the 3200GT... could be. I don't think I have ever taken any ang moh in my 3200GT. I not tough lookin... I soft, kind, and gentle looking.
Madam Kwan's great...tapi hi-class lah. Alisan's okay as well, if yer into a classy environment for nasi lemak. In KL, do you know of any good steaks/ribs? Funny that I actually do NOT know where to find good ones. My wife don't care for much steaks and she's a seafood kaki, so no choice lah, must follow the boss....Terminal 2, Sekinchan in Kuala Selangor...
There are only two places I eat steak in KL. Chalet at Equatorial Hotel and Jakes Steakhouse at Bangsar.
