Just got my recent issue of WindingRoad.com Free online car e-zine ;)

They have an article on using FedEx to ship your fineline automobile. Free instant quotes and according to the article they did a fantastic job.

"When it positively has to be there....pristine"

    Here's the FedEx web page.

    http://passport.fedex.com/

    Anybody used 'em?

(No affiliation to either of these co's.)

While I fully trust them (since they are working with Passport), the quote they gave me to Alaska was very high, and the car would be driven on and off the boat (by who knows who?).

I found a company that will put it in a container for the same price and no driving.

I can't speak to their service in trucking only.

After dredging through the archives, here, I used Passport to ship my Alfa from MA to VA.

I had resigned myself to paying the extra $100 for "non-running cars", as I didn't figure that anyone would be able to start a 25 year old Spica Alfa that had been parked for 5 months. (Especially as it has the original fuel pump -- fuel pressure can take a while.) But the driver managed ... impressive.

Impressive closed truck, timely service, good communications.

Not the cheapest option, but while several carriers are fine as long as all goes well, Passport has been reported (in the archives) to make the effort to make it right when things go wrong -- nothing did on my move.

    Highly recommended.

And since FedEx bought Passport, you can say that you shipped your car by FedEx. ;)

I just received my 575M with Fedex Passport this morning. Everything was flawless. I figured in case something happend, they were backed by a big name.

I called the schedule the car on Friday, they picked it up on Wednesday in Ohio, and delivered here in Gainesville, FL this morning (Saturday). 4 day trip. The driver put the car on the top floor in the front, so he never had to move it during the trip. He also had put in plastic floor, steering wheel, and seat protectors to protect the car.

To ship 360 from my dealer in FL to home in CA, the FedEx/PP system quoted me ~$1900.00.

I have used FedEx Passport Transport since 1997 for my other cars. Everything has always been to my satisfaction. The drivers and their
carriers are first rate. FedEx purchased Passport Transport several years ago from the original owner who is still there. They just brought my 360 to me and again everything was perfect. I have transported over 15 cars with them and not once has there been a problem.

I used Passport for my current 348 spider, excellent service, Nashville to Boston. Intercity for my former TR, again excellent service, LaJolla to Boston. Did try to save a bit of cash shipping my former 930S from Biloxi, MS to Boston, open transport. Experience not as pleasant.

    Great thread!
I ship cars a couple of times a year and had a bad experience with an open carrier, JD's Transport, out of Port St. Lucie, Florida.
They damaged my Q45 and would not accept any responsibility.
    I will definitely try FedEx.
    Thanks.

I would highly recommend Gary Almond for your transport needs.

He has a first class reputation within the Viper community and I know he has transported Ferrari's as well. I have used him many times with no worries.
