I am new to this board and presently have a GT3 that I use for street and track events.I am thinking about getting a CS .I would like to hear from any one that has been lucky enough to drive both.I would like to hear their thoughts on turn in ,car balance ,braking etc.

    Thanks

Both cars seem pretty similar to me in all performance respects. The GT3 is the only Pcar (other than the CGT) that has soul, but the CS will probably still give you a bigger hard on.

I have driven both on track, but neither on the street. The GT3 I drove had the metal brakes, not the carbon brakes.

GT3 is, by far, the most fun I have ever had in a street car on track. The CS is a close second, but the GT3 was. to me, just so much more involving. Maybe that is due in part to the manual gearbox, which I clearly prefer.

Both make glorious sounds. Both make power right up to redline. Both brake fiercely, although I found the GT3's brakes easier to modulate (I am guessing partly due to more rearward brake bias, and partly to the unusual feel of the CS' carbon brakes). However, the GT3 also cuts engime power completely if you have the brake & gas pressed at the same time (left foot braking under throttle). Very disconcerting at first, but then no problem. The CS allows you to brake & gas at the same time. I likes the turn-in of the GT3 a bit more, but both were excellent.

CS seats are more comfortable & supportive for spirited driving. GT3 had a better driving position for me at 6' 4" tall.

    Hope this helps!

At Buttonwillow last month my son Derek and I put over 200 miles on my Modena, and at one point Derek got a chance (Thanks, Jack!) to drive a well-prepared GT3. I rode along but did not drive. Derek's comments were, and I felt the same from the pax seat, that the GT3 was very well balanced, stuck like crazy with the R-compound Dunlops it was running, good power but surprisingly tall gears, and it was easier to drive at the limit than the 360, probably mostly due to the tires. He also said the 360 was by a good margin the more involving and fun car to drive, took more concentration but rewarded you by doing exactly what you asked it to do (but you better be right), and by contrast you could almost "mail in" your GT3 performance, it was that forgiving. Another opinion, FWIW.

My take on it is that IF you really plan on tracking the car get the GT3, it isn't as much of a visceral experience, but the risk (cost wise), of having a bad encounter at the track is minimized. If however you plan on taking it through the canyons and light tracking then the Stradale is a beautiful and simply awesome car. It is so nice looking, it is virtually a piece of art. Or you can get a used 360 and track it hard too.

    I have both cars.

The CS is a great car with the F-1 shifter. It is a bit slower on accelaration than the GT3 but is extremely responsive in turns.

Although I am still breaking in both cars...I think that the CS is faster track car while the GT3 is probably going to be a bit faster on the straight line.

In terms of practicallity, GT3 is better suited as a daily driver while the CS gets you much more head turns.

My GT3 has steel rotors while the CS comes standard with ceramic rotors.
Brakes are certainly better in the CS but the maintenace cost will also be much higher than the GT3. There is a very small hint of fade when I drive my GT3 hard.

I had a 2003 yellow GT2 with kinesis k18 r wheels and special exhaust. I took it in to the dealer for a factory recall for new seats. On a test drive by one of the mechanics he proceeded to wreck it tearing the whole right side of the car off. I just replaced it with a 2004 Challenge Stradale. This car rides, handles and is FAR superior in every way to the GT2. I know you were asking about the GT3 but i needed to make this comparision for you. The GT2 was by far the most dangerous car I have ever driven.

Was it your car that was at Weissach here in Vancouver for a short amount of time? It had some nice Kinesis wheels and an awesome and mean exhaust note?

I ask because Weissach seem to be the go-to people in the Northwest for Porsche repairs and you're in Oregon. Thanks

I just let me Cobalt GT2 go for my new Minerva Blue GT3. I don't miss the 2 at the track at all, but it sure was fun in a straight line! The GT3 feels much lighter that the 2. The CS has to be my favorite car this side of an F40. More reliable too.

do a search here and on rennlist where you also posted this query and you will find alot of excellent previous discussion.

i have my 3rd GT3 right now and my CS. the difference that tells is stability and handling in the bumps or on non-race course smooth surfaces:

    - CS is much more stable
    - CS can easily be driven 10-15 mph faster easily and safely while driving say from 6/10's up respectively, at least on my bumpy, gnarly mountain roads and PCH.

Do you have steel rotors on the GT3 or ceramic rotors?

If you have steel rotors, have they been pretty noisy?
