    Congratulations Doody. Nice and sensible first bike. Mine was a V-Max LOL Scared the crap out of me untill I wised up, sold it and got something more managable.

    i'm no expert on the R6. for sure it's much more of a standard riding position than the R6. my understanding is that it's the same engine but otherwise it's pretty different: gearing, suspension, etc.

    IIRC it is an R6 with and better riding position and the engine retuned for better all around useability. I'm no expert but I remember reading about it. Nice bike, I really like the blue.

    Enjoy Mr. Dood. FWIW, I found that the tires supplied on most of the bikes i've bought are not anywhere close to sticky. It is well worth the very modest investment to buy some serious tires. The fact that they wear out quick is a joke- who cares. The profound difference in how the bike grips the road- and how it affects your confidence as a rider- would make you pay the price of such tires every time you go for a ride. (Have no idea what your bike was supplied with- but as i said, FWIW). Enjoy!
