My dang MB died, so I brought a chip/board special from Frys. Works decent, but the board is something else. (ECS 945GCT)

    /rant on

No frick'n parallel port, so I have to either buy a USB/parallel adapter for my working fine ~20 year old laser printer, or buy a new printer.

Only one IDE channel on the MB, yet 4 SATA channels. I don't like having my data HD & DVD-R drive on the same channel, so it looks like I have to get a SATA hard drive.

I can see how the manufacturer wants to cut costs and eliminate obsolete stuff, but get this......it has a FLOPPY connector! WTF!

    /rant off

now I can go to sleep......

    Sorry man.

Quite a few manufacturers are ditching the floppy connector. You can flash a bios with a friggin thumb drive or cd now. Sata is also pretty much the standard. Thank god HDD's are a lot cheaper than they used to be.

I could only vouch for this one. This one will never let you down. no Parallel port though.

In the past year, I have had 6 Nforce 680i's fail on me. My Gigabyte G33-mATX keeps kicking though!

    I lost,
    2 ASUS striker extremes
    1 XFX 680i
    1 BFG 680i
    and 2 EVGA 680i A1's.

If you wanted sli though, you were stuck with this crap chipset.

I may be aging myself......but I remember paying ~$500 for a 20 **MEGA**byte HD via mail order. From Michael Dell when he started out selling parts. I think he should give me a 'cut' for kick-starting his company!!! :D I also thought I'd never fill the drive up............ :)

I decided to upgrade my laser printer to a networkable one. My HP-5MP laser printer gave me no problems, but it's probably close to wearing out.

I never liked ECS. I got a board, it was failing me, so I took it back to the store 2 weeks later. There was a Revision D out, and I had Rev. A. Never bought ECS again.

Gotta love technology though. You're computer is outdated the second you hit the buy button!

Heck, I don't even have PS/2 slots on my desktop.

I bought a PC's Limited in 1987 for close to $4k. 286, 1MB RAM, 21MB disk. Dot matrix printer. They changed the company name to DELL. My new mouse has more computing power than that old safe has.

ECS makes some pretty bad stuff.

I used ASUS for a while until they started building crap. Now I only use Gigabyte's products and they are all quite good.
