    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/motorsport/3180112/Fernando-Alonso-begs-Ferrari-team-mate-Felipe-Massa-for-help-in-F1-title-race.html

The Ferrari star called on his struggling team-mate to put his recent woes behind him and roar back to the front of the F1 field.

Only then will Massa be able to take points off Alonso's main title rivals — Red Bull duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

The Brazilian has been of little use to Alonso in the last two races.

He started at the back of the grid in Singapore due to a gearbox problem and crashed out on the first lap of the Japanese Grand Prix after qualifying only 12th.

Alonso — attempting to close a 14-point deficit to Webber in the last three races — said: "For me it will be important to be able to count on my team-mate Felipe.

"I know he will be really hoping to make up for two negative results and he has all the capabilities required to return to the podium.

"What's more, it will be very useful to work together to discover all the secrets of the new track in Korea so we can prepare our cars in the best way.

"In a moment like this every detail matters to achieve our goal."

Alonso is still looking over his shoulders at the challenge from McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

And he knows it is up to him to attack if he wants to secure his third world title.

The Spaniard said: "To lose any more ground would make the situation more complicated.

"I still think the fight for the title is open for five drivers.

"Too many times this year we've seen someone come back into the game after they'd seemed out of it and that could easily happen again.

"Having said that, perhaps the only one who can afford a bad weekend is Webber.

"For all the others it would perhaps mean giving up any chance, especially the ones who are a bit behind."

LOL. I bet Massa is searching for a knife to cut Alonso with at the next race now.

+1 Felipe owes FA ZIP!!! Good luck amigo would be my reply.

Some things should never be spoken and FA needs to learn that. He should have never been public about 'help'. Very entertaining this is though.

My take is that a driver should gather as many points as possible to further the team's goal to grab a WCC and one's one goal to soak up a WDC. If a personal WDC is out of the question, support your team mate. Massa being Massa, will probably do neither this year, either through lack of talent or motivation or both.

In his mind he probably thinks his "honesty" will motivate Felipe......

Either way, lack of discretion aside, he's right.

+1 my point exactly. Its fun watching him ask for help. So much for the seasoned 2xWDC. He should know better and after Germany etc, he knows Felipe owes him - n o t h i n g!

He paid his dues and gave up a victory on the anniversary of almost eating a spring for the team. Go FA- get the title.

Felipe did his part pulling over when FA could not pass. He was robbed. He's paid the bill for the year. Good luck Fernando its up to you. Felipe owes the team z e r o!

+1. Have to say that's the way I feel about it as well... ESPECIALLY when it happened almost a year to the day that he was almost killed...

I got no joy from Germany this year or Austria back in 02, both times a well deserved victory was snatched away unfairly (Massa this year and Barichello in 02).

Massa will probably gut it up and "take one for the team", but it has got to be tearing him up... words are cheap. We will see how this plays out...

I have to question Massa's motivational spirit at this time considering the circumstances... if he had won in Germany I believe he would have been more than willing...but with Germany being taken from him, I believe most people would be less than motivated...just the way I see it...

Understandable it is his motivation might have suffered a bit. The thread I posted above has him saying the right things. I know of course, in the end, he will do that and fall in line. The thread is fun because FA lacks a bit of political skill by saying what he has. Oh well it is just racing and not curing cancer etc! :)

No competitor worth his salt would be anything but gutted by being relegated to a supporting role but sometimes you do have to take one for the team.
