I did The Search, but did not find an answer.

I ordered front and rear Ferodo DS2500 pads for my 2001 360 from TopBrakes.com. Their web site listed separate front and rear pads for the same price. They also had a comment: w/ FMSI D592 front pads.

I received two boxes with the same part number. The pads do not have the notch for the pad wear sensor. Those people who have used these pads, is this correct or did the supplier screw up?

The old OEM front pads that have the sensors did not seem to work. My pads had worn down to almost 1/16" and there was no warning light or anything. I am glad I caught this in time.
Now, I am thinking of using the new pads without the sensor. I would just snip the wire past the connector so the connector would be sealed. Not sure if the car would get upset if the sensor is not there? Does anybody have thoughts on this?

Also, the Ferodo pads do not have, did not come with anti-squeal pads or compound. Is there something missing here or are because these are 'race' pads, none is needed/used?

I really want to get my car back on the road quick and not wait for pads to be returned and 'correct' ones (if there is indeed different front pads) sent.

    Thanks for the help.
This IS a great web site!!!!!!

Are the DS2500's race pads that you are going to use on the street? (I'm not familiar with Ferrodo's compounds, I apologize) If so, they didn't come with anti squeal measures because there are no need for them on the track. I would be advised to run a dedicated street and dedicated track pad in their respective environments.

The pad shapes are identical front/rear with the only difference being the front pads typically come with wear sensors. You can simply unplug the wear sensor connector with no ill effects (warning lights) other than not having a warning when your pads are toast. Personally, I periodically check on pads/rotors when cleaning the car and would surely change the pad out before it hit the sensor anyway.

    Thanks Away!!!!

I will be doing street and track and should be Ok. The OEM pads lasted for two track days and more than a few thousand street miles.

If I feel there is a problem on the street, I will get a second set of pads for the street.

Again, Thanks for such a quick reply!!!!!

Be careful the first couple of stops with DS2500 - they need a little warmth

I agree. Additional noise, dust, and rotor wear will come with running track pads on the street as well.
