not beautiful but interesting car. a friend of mine owned 199EU and owns 0150A, so i am familiar with the Ghia Ferrari bodies but i never really liked the looks.

Thank you for the news Boudewijn.

I would not call this car "unique bodied Ghia coupe" as it's clear that the Ghia body has been altered and not by Ghia...

Is black crackly finished on the cam covers correct? I thought that for this vintage bare metal was the norm.

Agree the came covers look wrong.

And the dashboard + gauges are completely wrong too...

Same owner for 40 years in FL.
Entire front totally customized from windshield forward, done in the 1950s already.
    Originally a standard Ghia Coupe, similar to 0105 S or 0149 E.
Rear window and c-pillar also totally changed.
I have old photos taken before 1960.
Modifications done in Italy in the 50s.
Oiginal owner had it from 1951 to 1959, eight years. I have the paperwork.
Matching numbers, instruments and interior extensively modified as well. Will be a big task and challenge to bring it back to original configuration.
Used to be white, then silver in USA, repainted red early 70s.

Would you recommend to do that or leave it as is - a "period" modification?

Car should absolutely brought back into the original body configuration. Even if it requires major work by skilled craftsmen.

I agree. There is something not quite right about the lines and proportions of this car as it is today. The profile picture of the car just looks off.

The wraparound rear window and the corresponding adjustments to the C-pillar really hurt the look from a profile standpoint...

One wonders what sort of abuse this car suffered to generate such extensive remodeling. Appears that it might have been in a multi-car rear-ender.

I am inclined to take a kinder view of this car getting the "updates" in period. Look at Marcel's book on the early cars and their bodies. Many of these had replacement bodies made and/or modifications done in period. So in a case like 0113S maybe the then owner still liked his car but hated to have it appear to be out of date looking. Today we value originality on all these historical cars wishing more survived and that other had not been so adulterated but way back when they were just an old car.

For those that really are into the design (styling) of the cars the early 50s to the early 60s say a massive change is automotive appearance. The aesthetic language and the proportions evolved at an astounding pace. So in the case of 113 maybe the owner wanted his beloved car to appear more up to date (possibly unable to afford the step to a new Ferrari of the day). Yes, there are some strange design areas on 113 as someone attempted to graft current shapes to existing shapes that were not so conducive.

For jjmcd instead of looking at the Vega maybe the Agnelli 375 Pf custom might give some better clues.

Please do not mistake my comments as an endorsement of keeping 113 as it is today; I agree with restoring it to its original version.

compared to, lets say, 089S, 0101S and 0109S this particular bodystyle falls a little bit short. Elegant car nonetheless.

The body modifications must have been done before July 1958 and in Italy, not in USA. as I have paperwork and old photographs to prove all this.
