I ran a 62 Thunderbird Convertible parts car auction - at 99 cent no reserve. I had to run the auction three times before I found a real bidder. Lots of stupid questions from several potential bidders. I presented a lot of pictures in the ad. I told people to always assume the worst and look closely at the pictures. Auction # 1 - winning bidder blamed his wife why he could no longer pay and promptly threw her under the bus. Auction # 2 - strange guy told me several times he would pay and the money was on the way. Even told me the payment was already sent FedEx. He asks me to end Auction # 3, and he will pay me. I offer the two bidders who came in second and third a chance to buy the car. Neither bidder is interested in buying a parts car - strange folks. Why did they bid ? Auction # 3. The winner from Auction # 2 attempts to enter the auction during the last hour. I blocked his account at the last minute. Winning bidder is from Down Under ! He promptly paid and I shipped him the car. The third auction ended with the best financial result .
Tell you what...there's a guy in south TX that's pretty happy the winning bidder didn't pony up. I'll post pics when she arrives.
Noticed one of the comments about the deadbeat bidder's, "didn't think the $70,000 would be the final bid"... So that shows these idiot's have no intention of buying anything, and it forces the seller's to relist the item over & over, trying to get a sale made. But Ebay, around the world, is making mega millions of dollars just off the listing fees, and could care less. Even noticed on the auctions for cars relisted several times, some of the same deadbeat bidder's, are bidding on many different auctions.
I believe the seller and I will keep that between us. Side note: Seller (Anthony) is about as easy as anyone could be to deal with. A true gentleman and passionate about his cars. If you ever have an opportunity to deal with him do so with confidence.
