Another video of the test. http://mediacenter.gazzetta.it/MediaCenter/action/player?uuid=db96ea50-a4a8-11db-a5ce-0003ba99c667 And here's the press release; Shakedown of the F2007 at Fiorano for the Scuderia Maranello, 15th January 2007 Circuit: Fiorano track, 2.976 km - short course 1.413 km Driver: Felipe Massa Car: F2007 Weather: air temperature 4/6°C, track 6/9 °C. Fog. Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro gave the F2007, the race car which will compete in this year's Formula 1 World Championship, its track debut this morning at the Fiorano circuit. Over the course of the day, Felipe Massa completed 39 laps, all on the long version of the track, the quickest in a time of 58"360. The Scuderia will be back on track on the 23rd January at the Mugello Circuit, with both its race drivers, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen in action. -- 55.999 is the lap record F2004
well, it certainly looks and sounds the part of a succesful F1-contender. Let's see what it can do in the hands of Kimi.

1.2 sec slower than the time set by the 248 using 20k revs and sticky Bridgestones vs. 19k revs and harder control tires - that's pretty impressive. It's also over a second faster than the 248 on its debut, for what that's worth. The way they've tidied up the aero around the rear end reminds of the way the F2002 set new standards in this area - on its way to setting new standards on the track. Let hope history repeats itself.
Notice how the engine intake snorkel has a horizontal splitter. I suspect that the flow above the splitter runs to the back of the engine cover and exits through the triangular opening above the gearbox at the back. Probably for cooling the gearbox oil. One incredible looking machine, I hope it has the legs of the 2002 Machine. Your right about MS looking a bit sad, too bad he didn't do a couple of laps.
something's telling me he might test the car...not now, but maybe down middle of the season. p/s : thanx for the pics. finally, a proper pic of the rear end of the car..
I know he would be faster than Massa, don't think so about Kimi. I am absolutely positive in his Prime he would probably destroy both of them. Brian how you been?
+1 i've been doin good Tony. college's startin again tomoro, i will be workin and studying at the same time. have u heard, the weather created massive havoc in the south of Malaysia. how have u been my friend?
Good Brian, do well in your studies. One of our factories in Johor is complaining about the flood. Take good care.
Maybe that's why either he or Ferrari is hesitant to let him test the car. If he does end up consistently lapping faster than Kimi he might have some second thoughts and so would Ferrari. Edit: Just saw the rear pix of the F2007 and I think they look amazing, it's good to see that the car is quicker than last years debut, now we just have to see what kind of times Kimi turns to see if he's worth over five times the price of Massa.
The car is beautiful. Completely new and very technological. It's a very modern design. They also have a nice long partnership with Bridges and it will probably help. I hope Hakkinen will enjoy it.
I like the paint job. Hopefully they keep it as the solid red is a much better look IMO (as opposed to the schizophrenic red and white of the past several years). Now, if only we can get them to go back to rosso corsa. From a marketing perspective, the teams are always looking for the paint job that stands out. With all the over-done, overly elaborate designs in recent years a simple mono-tone or two tone look would stand out more than anything else. So cheers to Ferrari heading in the right direction, providing they don't adulterate it between now and March.
Sorry, I meant Raïkkönen. I was reading an article saying Mika Hakkinen could make a try with the new McLaren.
There was a thread posted about it back when they were doing December testing. He tested a McLaren I believe, but was a few seconds off the pace.
yea, i know bout that. but i thought he was saying tha he's interested to test the NEW mac...not last year's.
