They should have made it shorter...taht's a lot of space for Max to hit!!!
That is very true. Ferrari typically won't show there hand this early. I think it looks great so far, and I'm hoping that the reliability issues are worked out fully. As you all know, we have less motors, turbo, and hy-kers systems to deal with this season!
Interesting, can't say I have seen this before. I'm sure we will be hearing more about this. My guess, get some or most of the Y250 vortex to channel it underneath the car to create more high pressure (faster moving air) to suction the car more to the ground. It's just a guess. I think the Scuderia Ferrari flag (white and red) with the S/F yellow shield will go on the engine cover. The number will be on the back where the fin meets the exhaust. IQOS goes across the back of the wing and along the "Mach 3 Turbo" front wing elements in white. We shall see as aero and livery changes in testing and Melbourne.
I am seriously confused. Why did F1 remove grid girls, but now place a big sexy thong directly in front of the drivers nose ?
Uglier and uglier. And that front wing looks atrocious. I still say that the halo should be painted neutral flat grey on all the cars.
It doesn't matter what the outside looks like. If the engine isn't powerful enough, or reliable enough, it won't win. So... how good is the PU this season?!
It won't win any beauty contests They painted the HALO two tone to try to thin it out visually. Everyone is trying to find a way to hide it's ugliness.
Not sure exactly what detail is being discussed, but typically a vortex is used to energize flow and allow it remain attached especially in areas of adverse pressure gradients, that is diffusing flow. Also, faster moving air and suction is usually associated with low pressure.
I sense a great opportunity for Formula 1 to advance the bendy bus technologies. They are going to need it at Monaco.....
Binotto talks longer wheel base, other features: http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/22542968/binotto-explains-thinking-ferrari-new-car-sf71-h "During the launch Binotto drew attention to the car's longer wheelbase, an evolution of its bodywork around the sidepods and slimmer rear-end packaging. Also notable is a much larger airbox opening believed to be a result of repackaging of the cooling system along the centre of the car."

It's tiny! Even aero in the mirrors! wow Image Unavailable, Please Login
At least the HALO is ferrari red! The only good thing about it. Scrap HALO ya big girls, let the drivers get on with it like men Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I wonder why they show the detail of the mirror. Why wouldn't they wait till the race so others couldn't copy until after the first race.
They will be redesigning the Halo Thong if a spring hits a driver's head ala Massa in Brazil. There is no perfect solution
Hang on... I thought having a shorter wheelbase than the Merc was touted as an advantage last year, allowing better rotation through the corners. What advantage are they hoping to achieve this year by giving that up? Edit: Never mind. I read the article (missed the link on first glance...) Seems Binotto is going for a more 'compromise' car that can be consistent on both high and low speed tracks. Not sure I agree with him though.
+1 the aero was not bad last year but the PU was not as reliable as it should be.......thats the weakness and I hope they addressed it.
The mirror thing is interesting. I can see them doing something like this on passenger cars somehow. I wonder if they are channeling air down into the mirror stand off and blowing it out somewhere else like the old F duct
