Oh! my ears hurt! All that shouting. Only Bruce is allowed caps like that :)

Dino's have suddenly gone sky high. Sheehan believes they are worth north of $150k. I would imagine that a Dino as you described is really good value at $108. Ckeck out the back story 'though. Does it have a clean title? is there anything in its history that is a red flag like a repaint or obvious repairs to any of the body panels? Does the owner warrant it to be accident free?

Dinos are pushing 35 years old and a lot can happen to a car in that time. I'd say a thorough PPI by an experienced Dino tech is a necessity at these kinds of prices. You don't want to discover $40K of essential repairs to keep it running.

They really are fun to drive. Not too fast, but they certainly feel like they're fast and they sound great as well.

    Good luck!

    A,
Run behind one following Karim (Racer98, SC Forum) and see how fast they are in a real life situation. Dinos handle as well as anything up to the 360s as long as twisty roads determine the speed. They don't have the torque, gearing or raw horsepower as the newer cars but as long as the tires and rough horsepower are the same, the Dino will clean house.

It is hard to imagine a seller "warranting" any car to be accident free (especially a car that is 30+ years old) -- even if the seller has been the only owner.

Further, what exactly does "accident free" mean? Does a door ding disqualify a car from being accident free? What about a car that has been backed into in a parking lot and a bumper needs to be repaired or a fender repainted?

Using backed into as a qualifier, then my car has been in an accident. However, having had the entire car down to bare metal, and not having found any evidence of anything other than some rust repair in the doors, my body shop felt pretty secure saying that it hadn't been in any dire distress during its life. Is that the same as no accident? Nope, but they did feel it hadn't been bent or twisted, which considering its age and storied past, is as close as you're gonna get. There was no evidence of any accidents, and much of the original paint still existed on areas where it had not been removed by the prior owner when he painted it.

$108K ini the current market sounds pretty good. There's a well known, um.. Ferrari guy who has one right now in nice shape for $140K, so that price sure sounds like a relative bargain.

And to think I passed on a GTS at $85K this spring. What was I thinking...

FWIW I always ask about accidents. I don't consider a "ding" to be an accident. I'm talking about things that require frame straightening or replacement of body panels or big pieces like headlight assemblies, any glass and bumpers. I know that most owners can only warrant what they know but that still does mean that if you discover something post sale that was untrue in terms of the seller's representations, you have grounds for a claim. Just simple business sense to ask.
