I've long held that one of the main reasons to dyno a carbed car is so that you can tune the carbs "at speed" and under some load. While I do have some (decades ago) experience with the old-school notion of driving at speed; cutting the ignition; coasting to a stop; and reading the plugs, I would never advocate that sort of thing on a public road today. Without resorting to that sort of procedure, I don't know how one jets an engine without a lot of extended trial and error, unless you do the tuning on a dyno... But... ...if tuning the carbs is the goal, you'd best have the exhaust on, and the air cleaner(s) in place, or you are not going to be matching real running conditions... And yes, I realize that you won't have the right environment temps, or the right "ram air" effects, but the closer you can get to real running conditions the better. If one is just looking for "before and after" numbers, however, and you ran the "before" with a bare engine, then yeah, you should run bare for the "after" as well.
but today it is much easier to jet the carbs. put a wide band sensor in and a reader and soon you know if you need larger or smaller jets
Agreed, much easier (and quantitative) than reading plugs, but I believe the “at speed”, “at load” and “closer you can get to real running conditions” comments are still applicable.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody !! Pics of 0341EU in 1967 still with its original colours despite these horrible side vents...
would love to see her in the original colours again .Side vents already on it when she was still in Belgium .
Does that number fit into sequence with other numbered papers? Suspect a typo as according to my notes the car would have been with Swaters in March 1955 already.
NO typo whatsoever. Nearby 0357 GT for example was factory invoiced 13 Februar 1956 to Swaters. One Nine Five Six. Once again, paperwork is in my archive. The originals, no copies. No photoshop, nothing made up. Marcel Massini
When was the car sold to Mr Bianchi (nothing to do with the well known Bianchi family) he was a student at the University of Brussels it's what Mr O. told me .Is this car not the one used by Swaters at the KM lancé de Waterloo in 1955 ? This car was a two tone of green is this correct ?
0341EU... anyone know the story of the side vents? Were they from a Spyder? Restoration in the early 2000's eliminated these. john Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don’t know about side vents but restoration on 0341EU is one of the worst ever with complete fantasy colours and incorrect détails. I don't understand how anyone can be proud to own such a horror...

My post 242 refers to another post by fchatter NART (was originally posted in between 241 and 242) that has since been completely deleted by the admins. It contained 3 black white photos of 0419 GT which I had taken in September 1987. That was a clear copyright infringement and I had asked the mods to delete the entire post, which they did. All this has ZERO to do with you (Aardy/Cyril Teste), so, no worries please. All good. Marcel Massini

I'm sorry but the photos of 0419GT are mine, I have the negatives and they date from September 14, 1986. I remember giving you copies in 13 cm x 18 cm. Sincerely Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Suggest you contact me privately/directly, whoever you are. BTW, then owner Andrea Auletta showed 0419 GT twice at the Crepaldi Ferrari Parade in Monza, 1986 and 1987. Marcel Massini
You forgot the S/N, 0341 GT. Warren W. Fitzgerald photo (who was co-author with Richard F. Merritt on "Ferrari, The Sports and Gran Turismo Cars"). Marcel Massini
