Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta Scale Kraft kit was used as a base, and RM of MD kit for the engine. Most of the model was scratchbuilt, with real leather interior, engine bay, etc. http://italianhorses.net/lusso.htm One of my favorite Ferraris, and I tried my best to do it justice. Hope I achieved it. Alex
Completely awesome, especially in 1/24 scale. Your paint work is unequaled. Is Scalecraft a resin kit maker?
Thanks! Yes, Scale Kraft is a resin kit maker. Btw, I see you are in Dallas TX, so you have a chance to see this model in person tomorrow (March 19th, 2005) in Irving at Showdown 2005 (its a model car show). Google it for directions or email me if interested.
Beautiful work as always Alex. You certainly have done Guido and Norm proud. Your leather work is especially outstanding for this scale. Best wishes with the contest. Gary
Alex: Likewise. How did the show turn out for you? I've got three Ferrari model projects going right now and plan to bring them to a local event like last Saturday when done--I'll stay in touch and email you some pics.
The show was great, I took home 8 awards, 3 of them for Lusso. Keep in touch. Thanks again guys! Alex Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats - the awards were *VERY* well deserved! You even inspired me to get out my half-finished Tamiya 1/24 F50 (Yellow Version). Unfortunatley, I quickly stalled out as the wet weather in NorCal put a damper on my spraypainting (outdoors).
Alex: Congrats, but not unexpectedly. For you other admirers, I saw the Lusso, and several other of Alex's models at a show last Saturday--all the same quality as the Lusso, down to the last detail.
Is there a link to a website that lists model shows in DFW? I would liked to have gone... I hope they have one coming up soon.
Alex: Thanks for putting up these links. Your assembly diary is impressive, to say the least. Looks like you are to models what Tom Yang is to fullsize Ferrari restoration.
Damn!! I meant to say DAMN!!! I have a friend who is three times national model car building champ, this is as good of quality. Damn!!!!! Can I be in your will?
Very generous of Alex to share the build process on this car. He may be too modest to mention this, but there is a great article on the leather interior in the April issue of Scale Auto magazine. Nice work !!!!
Not only is Alex one of the best builder out there, but he is also a great guy. I employ several builders who do custom builts for my business and I can vouch for the fact that Alex has done one of the best builts I have ever ordered. Alex built the red 1/24 Enzo by Tamiya for me using detail parts from Sakatsu and Studio27. His paint and detail are as good as it gets. Thank you Alex for bringing model building to a whole new level, especially with the Lusso. That model kit is a little rough around the edges. Truly impressive. Sincerely, Ed Island Collectibles, Inc
