A real Bentley enthusiast with serious money would probably get a real LeMans car, so a 4.5 or a Speed Six that entered LeMans back then! A blower became iconic only to later generations. I may be biased as I have a 4.5 original VDP tourer with original motorcycle fenders and big tank. I agree though something about the sound of the name Blower Bentley seems to define the era. Not the race results though that made Bentley. Blower's weren't reliable.
Sure! Was scrolling through my pictires and came across this one from May. I hate being separated from the car. Can't wait to get behind the wheel. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just in. I'm pleased to report the car was just awarded the Duke of Marlborough award for the best car on the field at the Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elegance at the Salon Prive at Blenheim palace. What fun! Wish I was there. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations Mark I saw some pics of it that a friend posted on Facebook. Looks great and there was some stiff competition. Shame you couldn't be there.
A tip of the hat to Marcel also! Wasn't he the person that suggested getting your Ferrari into that show? Some of those car owners take it very seriously so a VERY impressive result!!! The Duke of Marlborough award... John Churchill 1st Duke of Marlborough> Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you all and yes Marcel has already been thanked but no reason not to thank again so THANK YOU MARCEL!!
John Churchill was one of the greatest British generals "Becoming de facto leader of Allied forces during the War of the Spanish Succession, his victories on the fields of Blenheim (1704), Ramillies (1706), Oudenarde (1708), and Malplaquet (1709), ensured his place in history as one of Europe's great generals." The country paid for Blenheim Palace in thanks. Of course it ran well over budget but is magnificent. The current Duke of Marlborough has had a fair share of troubles, some drug related, and spent some time in prison over a road rage incidence, but seems to have calmed down as he matured. Winston Churchill, a distant cousin, was born at Blenheim. It is a fantastic backdrop to great classic cars such as Mark's TDF
Congratulations Mark! Spectacular car indeed. Thank you for having brought it to Salon Privé. I look forward to be at Blenheim Palace this Saturday. Best regards Marcel Massini
Well, maybe you can have identical made out of Nomex ? You know, in case you ever decide to seriously track the 0895GT ;-)
Congratulations Mark! Beautiful car and well worth the award. It's really shame you wasn't there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was a fabulous day at the Salon Prive today, there was a wonderful line up of cars and it was a beautful day. My sister and her family were able to go to the show and my 10 year old nephew was in the car as it drove through. He was grinning from ear to ear! There were many great pictures taken today of all the cars including of 0895gt. This hands down is my favourite. I'm trying to find who took it but believe it was first posted on Instagram by @TFJJ Image Unavailable, Please Login
