Pete I'm with you man, but I have it on the highest authority (aka Marcel) that VERY bad things will happen if you don't have a front plate in certain countries, especially Switzerland.
When I picked up my 612 at the factory, they made a color copy of the plate and taped it to the front of the car. According to the Ferrari guys, that was fine, and I did drive all around Switzerland like that (including several border crossings) with no issues. So you might consider trying that. You can see it clearly in this picture (although it was the end of the trip, so it was getting a bit smeared!). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe see if someone local could make you some kind of bracket that would mount somewhere sturdy and not be damaging...??? I agree, if Marcel says you need it, then you need it. Period.
Should be easy enough to fabricate a simple mounting bracket below bumper, maybe utilizing bumber brackets/hardware for attachment ?
... and France ! And be careful with the speed cameras (radars). They are everywhere. Many are preceded by these signs. Some years ago, they started to remove the signs but not all. It's going crazy here ! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is it possible to roll the plate in such a way that it will fit the contour of the front bumper? Perhaps doing that with appropriate padding between the plate and bumper wig with some clear zip ties would suffice.
I'd just keep it on the dashboard Not necessary to mount. If the cops ask say it just fell off and you were keeping it on the dashboard until you get home and have it fixed
Perfect, they are very good and look the part. When I showed mine at 60 th anniversary celebration ( and won class, 1385GT) we had an old set of Englebert but you could not drive with them,,way too old. One the other hand the racing tires i also had were not homologated for road driving, not a problem for driving, but a big one in case of accident. Enjoy your drive!
Thank you! One of the last chances for a drive tonight. Car gets picked up Thursday goes to trusted AD for a nut and bolt, Monday morning heads to the airport and currently booked on a plane on Thursday across the pond.

I have some cheap tool bags arriving tomorrow. Should be able to squeeze in the tools and spares. Currently have them in flat boxes but that's going to be a pain the other end. Also have notices to stick all over the car. Will post tomorrow night when final packing is done.
A 250PF with a smaller front plate under the front bumper. Cannot tell you how it is mounted https://flic.kr/p/HwVuK2
