    "there's no accounting for taste"

this car has the better lines than a GTO, curvy and a streamline front windscreen (same for the GTO 64)
Sadly only one made (and a nice '06885' recreation, now believed to be in Portugal or Spain)

okay - you are talking about the "Hietbrink-car". i did not count that one as a 06885 Replica.

This car should bring more money at auction then the NART spider.
I know this is one of the most original Ferrari competition cars (60s) out there. Not even 5 GTOs come even close...

Marcel Massini said 06885 would bring at least $75 Million.

Starts out on how he had to pay $5.5 million for selling knock off purses, then has a lot about his love of Ferraris

    Swap Shop's Preston Henn: - tribunedigital-sunsentinel

Question--when he bought that 275 for $6500, was that considered a high price at the time for a 275?
Was the seller dumping it? The article riter ay it's worth $70 million

Anyhow the tory is a real hoot....

    One says under $10,000
another says it was in the '80s he bought it and he paid $10,000,000.
I consider that too large a spread between $10,000 and $10,000,000 so am concluding the $10,000,000 price improbable.
By way of ref. in 1969 I was offered a 250GTO by Henry Manney III for $14,000 so I don't think in '67 (the first year anyone mentions he bought it from Cluxton) it could have been priced higher than the 250GTO, a car already gaining attention among collectors.

I thought I saw on Fchat.com a couple of old messages from Massini around 2004 saying it was $6,500 but can't find those in the 5-page 275GTB/C thread.

    Preston paid $ 6,500.
Decades later Preston placed an ad in FML in which he wanted a minimum of 10 M $.
That was just a market test, he never intended to really sell.
I recommend the special book about 06885, done by Dave Williams, Harley Cluxton and me, available from blurb. Has everything you ever wanted to know about this fabulous "1965 GTO".

Ordered! One of my top ten favorite Ferraris. I saw it at Cavallino 1, thought it was a GTO, a closer look showed me the differences.

Although there is some mystery regarding the price paid by Preston Henn to Harley Cluxton for 06885, the $6500 figure is incorrect. According to Preston he traded a 250 Europa, which he valued at $8000 or $9000, plus some cash, leading him to believe he paid around $12000 or $13000 in total. Harley remembers the deal differently with there being no 250 Europa traded and $12000 was the price paid.

I had the pleasure of seeing this car in Beverly Hills for Ferrari's 60th anniversary, and got to hear it start up and rev a few times. Glorious sound. I have a video of it I'll try to post when I have time.

Pit stops have come a long way. See that fellow (I think wearing a suit and tie) dripping gas from the nozzle as he was reaching for the gas cap? Thanks for posting.
