Can anyone supply the paint code or a paint manufacurer's code for the "Fly Yellow" (?) color used on the Preston Henn Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale? I've searched the forums only to find vague references to this color and no definitive code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dean

    20Y191 Glasurit (1967 - ) can be used for a scale model.

Thanks Tom... do you know if that is the actual paint code for Fly Yellow or a close match based on the restored car?

I dont think Prestons car is Fly Yellow. Fly yellow is lighter and has a greeish cast under florecent lights.

There were other yellows at the time. It is probably the shade Francorchamps used as it was raced at LM as a francorchamps car.

The car was restored at Shelton (now Ferrari of Ft Lauderdale) under the supervision of Al Roberts, who may be able to tell you for sure.

Thanks Bighorn... I'll try contacting them... I thought the shade of yellow on the restored Henn car was slightly different than Fly Yellow.

I do not now if Ecurie Francorchamps used the exact Fly Yellow paint code of 1965. Do not know if the car was resprayed fly yellow at the factory or someone else in Maranello area or done in Belgium before the 24H race. It was resprayed red again (maybe twice) and restored by Henn and resprayed in yellow. If the current yellow is an exact matching the 1965 yellow, I do not know maybe others may know it.

Glasurit 20Y191 is very similar to Glasurit 5204191 (later years Fly Yellow) but can almost not be distinquished when on a scale model.

Maybe it helps you. You can order the colors also from Spiess Hecker, ICI, Sikkens or other car refinishing companies. Its all 2K paint, whereas the original on the car would be cellulose I guess.

Thanks for your input Tom, much appreciated. I've got a few feelers out in regards to the restored cars color... I'll post as soon as I hear anything definitive.

    Hello Dean,
When building the model also pay very close attebtion to the front number placement. In all the pictures I have seen from the actual race the #24 is slightly angled. I can send you pics of what I'm talking about. I think the restored car has the number at a perfect 90 degrees but I would not count on the resto being perfectly accurate to the race car. Modelers pay far more attenton to details like this than the restorers do, regardless of who they are, there credentials, blah blah blah or whether they were there when the car raced or not. No disrespect but they miss things. Modelers may miss these too but I've had several of these model cars built and each time I find new period research info on the car and each time I try to improve the accuracy. Unfortunately the real car restorers get one shot and have a better chance of missing the info based on there limited time to do research. And once its done its done.
    I'll send sme pics,
    Ed
