I think RTB is looking at it from the perspetive of somebody who already owns one. The 56209 mentioned by Marcel was effective ruined by its modifications: yellow stripe, red bumpers, rear panel cut-and-vented with slats, terrible rear exhaust valance bolted-on.... I saw this car in Northern California once. I had to quickly look away The 288 GTO has a pure & simple shape that is best left alone... Here is one that has been left alone. Given the yellowed driving lamps Im surmising it is a French-delivered car? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Correct! In that picture it had just been delivered back to Monaco around the time of the GP after a service back in the UK!
This one could be the one from the Pozzi collection, long kept at Pozzi Lyon dealer premises. I think I recognize the paint on the wall, even if that can be from another parking somewhere in the world... I heard this car still has 0 km... S/n unknown... I know of another 288 GTO in France and never driven, but this one is kept near Marseille. It's the car of a famous french Ferrari car collector. Don't know the serial neither ! Olivier
Interesting stuff. Dont you think it would have at least 100 km as delivered by Ferrari? The lowest mileage Im aware of in existence today is 158 km... the highest Im aware of is about 70,000 km (the ex-Charles Church car) as posted earlier on this thread.
I believe the box was used to get more space for the early fuel injection system? In a different picture of that car with the engine cover open the FI can be clearly seen. Perhaps in Ferrari World magazine. CH
Yes but this raised panel was seen on the prototype cars only, and 56209 is over 180 cars from the first GTO. Confusing....
where are those pics taken ? and whose car is that ? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138296298&postcount=2639 I mean ... if features Mexico DF license plates
Hi Joe, What do you know about the 288 GTO that will be auctioned off soon at the Gooding sale in Arizona? I seems to be an average quality car. What do you think it will bring? Closer to the low estimate or the high? Happy New Year, Gene.
