That got me to the warehouse to take out the car and put some more miles, every one with smile, on it. Steve
I've been using the Toyo RA1s 225/50 16 and 255/50 16 tires for years on the road and they work great. I still have the car's original Gatorbacks that have great tread, they're just hard as bowling balls by now. Great for Concours though. Steve
Someone over at PistonHeads spotted Chris Evans white (what else?) 288 GTO in London. I don't like it in white, takes away some of the crazy: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see what you mean, but a GTO is an amazing car in any color. Put it this way: White is my least favorite color for cars, but at least it looks better on a 288 GTO than on most others.
Indeed, that shape can wear any color. If white had been an option at new I bet they'd have sold a few.
I bet you're right. . . and they could probably have sold a few yellow, black, and silver ones as well. There were, as I recall, two silver GTOs in existence at one time, but the only photos I've seen of them weren't very good ones. If anyone has some nice photos of the silver ones. . .
I know, Joe. . . and, strictly speaking, all GTOs must be red. (Some even think that's true of all Ferraris.) I still enjoy seeing some of the other colors. At least one black one and a yellow one, as far as I know, are still in existence. And, if there are any high-quality photos of the formerly silver ones, I'd love to see them.
The black one in France is back to red also (as I understand it) but there is the one in the Far East that remains black. Ive looked for good images of the silver USA cars and they are elusive.
Thanks. . . I knew I could count on you for up-to-date information, Joe! Are you including any other-than-red GTO's in your book, whether current or vintage photos? (Or maybe you don't want to tell us what's in there until the book's release - at which time I will by buying a copy!)
Some photos I've collected over the years - none of which were taken by me, and I apologize to the authors for not noting your name at the time I downloaded your image(s). Thanks for sharing. The pics were taken in 1985 (not 1984 as suggested in the links) and this car is the ex-Jacques Swaters 56331 recently sold by us for 7 figures (2,200 miles). Image Unavailable, Please Login
