Can anyone please provide information on this stunning blue GTO ? Would very much appreciate to know the story of that car as well as the name of the blue it’s wearing. Thanks.

My apologies if the subject has already been addressed...

That appears to be 56655, a standard 288 GTO finished as they all were originally in LHD & red.

Then later converted to RHD and painted Indian Blue by Pininfarina for the Sultan of Brunei

If Ferrari had offered the GTO in other colors, here is one that would have worked very well, perhaps the reason Pininfarina SpA supplied it

I recommend Octane magazine number 179 which comes out at the end of this month, it features an 11-page article on the Countach Downdraft and the 288 GTO as noted on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OctaneMagazine/

As a casual lurker for a while, and now a very humble new poster, I want to thank you Mr. Sackey, for the wonderful book on the 288 GTO. It just arrived in the mail, and I think it is wonderful.

I never tire of looking at that Red car of yours. Thank you for all of your posts!

Is that cover even accurate?......"Group B showdown that never happened"
I've never heard of Lamborghini ever intending to participate in Group B rally back then.
The literature of the day always pitted the GTO against Porsche's 959.

    Yes.

They are referring to the fact that both these cars were FIA Homologated for Group B, but nothing ever came of it.

Meanwhile in fact, the 288 GTO was FIA Homologation number B-273, and the Countach Downdraft was FIA Homologation number B-291.

Neither car participated in any rally, hence the title.

Find below the respective FIA documentation for both cars

Wow! That's great bit of info properly backed up!

You can buy the May edition of Octane in March? Crazy but eagerly awaited!

Love looking at pics of the GTO, saves me taking the dust cover off mine ;)
