Ferrari 296 GTS - Targa or Spider ??

There's a video of sorts - the engine cover rises - the back quarter of the roof goes down and the front section rotates 180 deg to sit above the engine - engine cover comes down

100%, the A pillar meeting the roof line in the coupe is just awful car design, so much tension and completely unnecessary, its the one/biggest design flaw that really keeps me from liking the design in anyway. So, they made the coupe look like the top is removable, and the removable top look static, WHAT??????????

And if you have seen the coupe in person, behind the glass in that intersection where the A pillar meets the roof, you can see the real roofline, so when the door is open, or the window is down, you can see the true, fluid shape, so in reality the ugly roofline they created is not even structural, its fake and the real, better structure, is hidden temporarily behind the window, until its not.

So they key to the coupe is to drive with the window down and then you will have the roofline of the Spyder. The inner roofline is very apparent in this pic.

I guess when my car arrives I can always tint that section of the window pure black, then it will look fluid.

I much prefer this arche between the 2 seats than the 2 bumps of the SF90/F8/488…

 

i do not get it either, why they kept both rooflines.. this seems to me some kind of a bad joke or something. utterly pointless

 

They fixed the A-pillar and windshield for you, @maha!

Very nicely done including the sail panels and rear deck design.

 

The carbon fibre wheels on the launch car look awful. Takes all the class away from the car! They look like aftermarket wheels.

Well Ferrari of Palm Beach said they won’t take an order unless I buy a Roma first despite F8 and Portofino. Disappointed.

That's wild. My dealer wouldn't take one unless I bought a GTB first. :/

 

Like with the F8... so much nicer and balanced in the spider version compared to the coupe!

Me neither, and for the most part I call it lazy design. Not that I like the "visor" feature of the coupe, but they just ignored it and went for yet another iteration of the same removable hard top dating from 458 spider. They certainly could have done an effort to try and keep the visor feature with an alternate design.

 

Have they dropped the ‘race seat’ design? Not on the configurator.

 

mess wondering the same. Assume it has to be a bug. No way they drop those huge price tag options. Current configurator options are a bit more sparse than on GTB.

 

Roof with visor would probably be too long to fit under the engine cover or would compromise the roof folding mechanism.

 

Black wheels of any kind look bad, IMO—carbon or otherwise.

This looks much better to me than the coupe. The roof of the coupe is very odd to me for some reason.

 

I think that most of us are happy they got rid of the visor,
I know for sure that i am .

 

Well then that's their challenge to work that out!
