I heard that the spider version of the Ferrari 296 GTB will have two visible air scoops on the side, just behind the side windows.
Agreed, looking at the rear lights it is a SF90. Very happy that the testdriver was fine and not injured after such a crash! For those for who the video is not available, if you have a VPN and put it to Germany, it works just fine.
Placed a deposit for 296gtb today and my rep (45 years with Ferrari etc.), a guy that seems very knowledgeable told me: 1) Spider is coming - could be announced sometime this year 2) It is replacing the F8 3) There will be no F8 special edition I believe him - it makes sense...
I would be surprised if no F8 special version...historically there always has been ie Scuderia, Speciale, Pista...etc, but heard the same about your points 1) and 2) from our dealer...
All this is correct and has been confirmed. it has been confirmed there is no VS F8. Plenty of threads on it and the 296 is the F8 replacement.
I must have missed that in any press release. Do you have the source? Kind of interesting since they are the same price point. Every dealer I’ve spoken to has stated it is the replacement and starts production when the F8 is done.
I would suspect Q4 of this year or early next year. Historically the spider order will start shortly after the coupe start production. First coupe will arrive late Q4.
It seems to me that the last time I heard that the 296 was not the replacement for the F8 was in the TopGear video where the presenter said that Ferrari had confirmed this "many times".
I cannot find the direct quote but most write-ups at launch have this line or something similar: It doesn't replace the F8 Tributo, but "complements" the range, according to Ferrari. (Topgear)
So Ferrari hasn’t said it but top gear did? You specifically said Ferrari has said it many times. I have never seen them say it and have been told the opposite from 3 different dealers. This article says the opposite. They cars are virtually the same price and production doesn’t overlap. Seems to be a replacement to me. https://billionairetoys.com/new-ferrari-296-gtb-to-replace-the-f8-tributo/amp/
Forgot to add this one. Road and track says it’s the replacement. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/amp37881904/ferrari-296-convertible-spy-video/
Isn’t the timing spot on for a replacement? it can be either way but it seems to me that it is a replacement. Imagine you have 296 spider coming the 296 gtb plus the replacement for f8 and a spider version all with mid engine and around 800hp the pricing is also in line with it being a replacement let’s see but it’s pretty clear to me now let’s look forward to the special edition of the 296
Exactly. Also what the dealers are being told. F8 orders are closed and they would have already unveiled the replacement by now. At least that is what has happened for almost every model in the past.
