No affiliation, just thought I would post this for the price watchers out there.

A blue LHD Mondial Coupe 3.2 1986 has just come on carandclassics for an asking price of £47,000 GBP.

The car featured in the film The Devils Double so along with the condition the seller is asking a premium it seems.

Is it just me or are the asking prices for the 3.2 Mondi Coupes starting to go crazy recently? especially the RHD models.

3.2s are great cars and that blue coupe is stunning! Lets see, £47k converts to $71,284 USD, that's crazy money!!!
Saw the movie too, gruesome but full of action and suspense.

    Cheers

    Thats incredible!

I must say however that it has the older Mondial 8/QV wheels and not the proper Mondial 3.2 wheels which are concave.

I also noticed that there is only 1 RHD 3.2 coupe for sale in the UK at the moment at a dealer for £35,000 ($53,000 USD.) Prices have certainly changed since i bought mine last May and not sure if colour has anything to do with it but that looks like blue Sera. I have the same colour, 1 of only 4 ever registered in the UK as a 3.2 RHD.

For that price i would go for a 360!

Yes i noticed the car for sale has the older metric style wheels and in the film it has the convex rims, why have the wheels been changed i wonder?

Also have you ever drove a 360?...............when i did Lotus Elise with more grunt sprang to mind, also i don't think the 360 styling is ageing very well, but i suppose they said that about the Mondial!

This may be a long shot to determine if it's the same car as in the movie, but the photos in the advert are definitely an 86 model as it has the older style door cards with no hole for your hands for the grip handle inside. These were added later in production to help with closing the doors. I haven't seen the film but if anyone has it it would be interesting to compare.

As for Lotus, I have driven a Elise on a track day and nah, it doesn't stir my loins like a Ferrari:)

Anther observation, the Ferrari wing shield sticker in the movie photo is quite low down and in line with the top of the wheel arch. The advert photo of wing shield sticker is much higher up. Although one pic is from the left side and the other is from the right you would think they would be at the same level. Again, 2 different cars?

I can see Mondial prices slowly starting to increase. There has been some positive magazine articles of late, saying how low prices are and they cannot stay that way for ever.

As for buying a 360 over a high priced Mondial, you could say the same for the Dino which runs around $200,000 for a decent one in the UK.

I like the fact that there are so few Mondial QV cabs here in the UK. I believe 24 were registered in the UK (mine is 1 of 2 white ones) and there are certainly not 24 left.

Hi Ian, totally agree with the recent price rises here in the UK, but are they selling?

Bank interest rates are at an all time low and there is so much interest in classic cars with an abundance of tv shows especially on Discovery channel that it has created a lot of interest especially for the lower priced entry level cars (of all makes) which can be run along a daily driver as an affordable addition and as DIY fun. Aston Martin DB7s are so cheap now that they have bottomed out and on the rise too.

    Interesting times ahead!
