    I don’t know the exact factory products but I was able to get the stippled heat coating using a product called lizard skin and POR15 high temp aluminum is a decent approximation for the original silver but more a satin than a matt finish.

    So hand painted? Did you strip tehn down to barr aluminum?

    Also did you apply some under coat or does this paint leave this “lizard skin” finish?

    I just patched the areas where the thermal coating had chipped away. Lizard skin is a separate product. It is a thick goo that can be applied and stippled to look like the factory coating. The por15 is the top coat to give the silver finish.

    Be careful to not add additional thickness where the steel tank straps pass as they are a bear to get threaded. At least they were on my GT4.

    Not to go too far off on a tangent but should all 308s have a silver pebbled firewall ?

    My tanks are silver but the "firewall" is black. I have tried to do a closer inspection without removing the engine but its hard to see if it was originally silver and a previous owner painted over it?

    Same year QV sold in France and original color of the firewall is silver. I suspect someone painted yours.

    My engine is out so I have PLENTY of room to paly around hence why I'm restoring my entire engine bay but cheers for the input
