IVE JUST HAD SOME VERY POOR QUALITY PICTURES SENT TO ME OF "THE BEST GT4 I WILL HAVE EVER SEEN" FROM A NON FERRARI SPECIALIST!
THE ENGINE AND ENGINE BAY WAS COVERED IN RED OVERSPRAY, THE "NEW CARPET" WAS WORN, AND THEY STILL WANTED £23,000. WHAT IS IT WITH THESE DEALERS?
DO THEY NOT KNOW THE TRUE MEANING OF IMMACULATE, CONCOURS ETC?
THEY HADNT EVEN HOOVERED IT OUT BEFORE TAKING THE PICTURES.
I WAS INSULTED TO THINK THAT THEY THOUGHT I WOULD TRAVEL ALL OF THE WAY TO LONDON (AGAIN) TO SEE "THE BEST" WHEN IN FACT I WOULDNT TRAVEL 20 MILES TO SEE THAT EXAMPLE.
    WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE ON?

There are a lot of dealers who do that sort of thing, they normally end up in court or prison after a couple of years.

Keep looking and you'll find what you want

You might peruse some of the tons of photos on this thread to get an idea on what a mint GT4 looks like. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1187

I am not selling mine, but won't take anything less than 30K (US) for mine.

I REALISE ONE WILL COME ALONG EVENTUALLY BUT PRISTINE ONES SEEM FEW AND FAR BETWEEN.
AND THEN WHEN THEY DO THEYVE GOT A HORRIBLE TAN VELOUR INTERIORS!!!!
AND ARE IN THE MID £20K.
IM GOING TO 'SEE RED' AT DONNINGTON SO MAYBE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO PRIZE ONE AWAY FROM AN UNSUSPECTING OWNER THERE.

    Hi
I picked up my v.original '74 GT4 18 months ago in a pretty tatty state. A lot of work (thanks Rardley Motors!) has seen it back to good nick and it has just completed a hard 2000 mile run round France with a bunch of Caterhams... It has been well worth the wait and expense so hang in there for a good one! If you want the raw older feel and noise then hang in there for a GT4 over a Mondial.

Main reason for posting however was to alert you to the "One you can buy" feature in this months Classic and Sportscar mag - they have a brief write up on a red '74 GT4 for sale at www.dovehousecars.com. The website quotes the wrong year and doesn't have much info - the the car's steering wheel is a non standard and too modern Momo. But, might be worth a look!

    HI DAVE,
THANKS FOR THE INFO AND ADVICE, NOT JUST TO YOU BUT TO EVERYONE WHOS BEEN IN TOUCH.
YOURE RIGHT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE RIGHT GT4 OVER A MONDIAL, I JUST LOVE THAT BERTONE STYLING.
IVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH DOVE HOUSE CARS AND TO BE FAIR TO THEM THEY DID TELL ME THAT IT WAS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT BY NO MEANS MINT. THANKS FOR POINTING IT OUT THOUGH!
DAVE, IVE GOT THIS MONTHS CASC MAG BUT CANT FIND THE ARTICLE, WHAT PAGE IS IT ON?
I HAVE FOUND A FULLY RESTORED RED GT4, ORIGINALLY BLUE, CRASH DAMAGED BUT REPAIRED, HONG KONG RHD IMPORT BUT WIOTH AN INTERIOR THAT NEEDS WORK FROM AN INDEPENDANT DEALER WITH GOOD MECHANICS.
OR A NEARLY CONCOURS GT4 BUT WITH AN AWFUL TAN VELOUR INTERIOR BUT THE WHOLE CAR IS MINT AND TOTALLY ORIGINAL WITH ONLY 21,000 MILES.
    ANY THOUGHTS?
    CHEERS,
    JULIAN.

Oct. Classic and Sportscar - arrived today.... page 196

    I see www.runnymedemotorcompany.com are advertising a "complete refurbishment" '76 GT4 for £22,950 (!) - worth a look?

I guess you can change the interior but I'm not sure of the ease or cost implication... A lot seem to have undergone respray colour changes to red. Mine was originally white, but resprayed by the prev. owner in the 90's. If it's a quality job I would see that that as less of an issue than an interior I found difficult to live with.

    oh yes.......RUNNYMEDE!
they mailed me some pictures that must have been taken by a 2yr old.
they were shocking, not too mention that the engine was covered in red overspray and they told me that it 'was the best one i will ever see' and they still wanted top wack for it!!!
would a crash damaged but fully repaired hong kong import bother you?

More than anything I think you need some form of "expert" opinion on a car like this (assuming you aren't confident by yourself - I wasn't). You need a clear idea how well the crash damage has been repaired...

I bought my tatty one with some help from an experienced spannerman, it ended up needing a lot more doing than at first view but made sense at £11k. Interestingly it had been on a forecourt, rather misrepresented, at £17k weeks before! Fortunately it was very original (bar the respray), just neglected and with 29 year old suspension bushes and shocks rather limiting its handling potential. And a lot of other things that all added up!
